...such as there being too many obnoxious posts, childish rants and people who waste space with their attempts to start a fire by rubbing people the wrong way.

It should not be assumed that simply because TER is a sexually-oriented adult board that 'anything' is aceptable...and as they say, if you don't like the boards, go start your own.

????   If his real handle was there and not his alias of an alias,  maybe repercussions would happen.  Many guys and gals quit posting on the regular boards because of crap like this.  It is your board and your decision.  So be it!

Rules that discourage free speech on a XXX site  have also killed the boards. Have you not noticed how DEAD boards are in the last year???

Boards are dead because of a LACK of free speech, not because of free speech !

When Mods become board cops/censors everyone LOSES!

"While it is anticipated that vigorous debate of ideas and opinions may occur within this forum, it is expected that civility in discourse will be maintained.  Discussion Board Moderators and TER Staff will exercise their discretion in managing the flow of discussion and applying these guidelines."

In other words, we (as moderators) are allowed to use our discretion as to what we think is productive discussion... and as to what we think is trolling, inflammatory and otherwise not worthy of the light of day on TER.

As for boards being dead, I think we'll just have to agree to disagree as to why (I don't think this is a relevant topic to the M&G board- if you'd like to bring it up on General Discussion or Policy, I think it would be relevant there). Perhaps you pine for the days of different sets of moderators, and, well, if you don't like how the current set runs things, you can always let Staff/Admin know.

I thought that while the way the original poster made their point was pretty offensive and that it was flat out wrong in several respects, it deserved a serious response.

I think sometimes it's important NOT to censor, just to show that while there some ugly, bad ideas out there, the way to combat them is not to censor  them, but to make better arguments and show better ideas.

I don't like doing this, but I'm not going to turn this into a discussion about how/why we moderate in general- everyone can read the guidelines at the top of the page. If you have issues or concerns, please feel free to discuss this with me, Doc or Staff/Admin.
