Bencotto is my favorite food down there but other very nice are:
Enoteca Style
Devanti
Buon Appetito is a bit more casual but a great value

I love Café 21 so much!!!  If she is in Little Italy though, she would have to jump on the trolley to get to the Gaslamp.
