I'm calling BS. Anyone been there sndvwhat is the real cost?
I know from watching the Cathouse series that every lady has different price tiers, based on what the gent is seeking. So, while a menu is offered, what the prices are for each service, is dependent on the lady one chooses. I also know that when Cathouse was made, prices were MUCH higher, and over the years, they have gone down considerably...although I am quite sure big spenders still go in there for legality reasons. I know some of the newer ladies were charging $150-200/30 min for regular session...while others, such as Air force Amy and Sunset Thomas, were charging $1,000-$3,000 per HOUR, depending on what the guy wanted.
Back in the day, before the advent of internet escorting, the safest, legal way to play was at the ranches. Sometimes I'd simply be in the area, and sometimes I'd plan a whole day around a ranch visit. So I'm experienced in the whole process, and have watched with interest all the changes over the years. Of course, once internet escorting came alive, it became so much easier, and less expensive to hobby locally than make the long trek over there. But two days ago, on my way home from another trip near there, I decided to stop in just for fun.
I was there for about 90 minutes, and just hung out sipping my drink while the ladies came over to chat me up. During that whole time only one other guy came in, and he didn't stay long. Since it was so slow, I thought I might have a chance at a deal. I knew better than to go for the AF Amy type, so I took the proverbial tour with an average looking lady. I was very surprised when she quoted me the rate of 1k for a one hour gfe. She was so matter of fact I could tell that gfe wouldn't have been much fun. I politely said that was too high, and that was it. On your way pal. It didn't matter that things were slow. It was 1k, or the highway. That's anywhere from 3-5 sessions at home, so I chose the highway.
I'm pretty sure the ranches cater to high rollers. The average guy is expected to pay those rates. Because things were so slow, it would seem like they don't make millions and millions. But then I noticed several changes. All the buildings had been upgraded inside and out. Where before there was just a gate and a door, there were now fountains, and a walkway leading up to the door. I drove by the other ranches, and all had been improved significantly. Back in the day, if you wanted to go to the Bunnyranch, you had to take this funky little diagonal side road, and the ranch was at the end of it. I was surprised to find that there is now a grand entrance to the Bunnyranch, perpendicular to the interstate. It's called Bunnyranch Drive. Go figure. So make no mistake about it. There is money there. That's why I didn't get a deal. The lady would simply wait for the next high roller, or the occasional average guy blowing his whole wad at once
IMO there is no reason for that place to exist. maybe in the 70's or 80's but as you mentioned with the competition from internet escorts I would NEVER go there even if I was in Vegas and their rates were standard $$$$ per hour.

Some people pay $35 for a pair of jeans while others pay $350 for the same fabric with a logo on it.

Why vacation somewhere far away when you can have the same amenities for cheaper closer to home?
I get what you're saying, but there is a market for all price points with all products. 
Most people don't realize this but the Bunny Ranch is actually about a SEVEN HOUR drive from Las Vegas. It's not close.
One can conclude that legal hobbying costs significantly more than typical. Then again, I've never actually been there, so maybe what I've seen on TV is a steaming pile of BS. Who knows? I have seen a lady who once purportedly worked there (we did not mention that during our meeting), and had a great time with her. Not at the Bunny Ranch, but at an upscale hotel in NYC, at rates that were hobby norm at the time.
Going forward, I have no plans to go to BR. I am happy with my biennial trips to Vegas.

You've got urban brothels and you've got rural brothels. Prices vary from brothel to brothel and from lady to lady, but having some knowledge of how to negotiate is certainly to your advantage. Lots of info on this website regards the negotiation process, as there are discussion boards on the site just like here on TER.
