When I see "athletic"...

... what I think of is, this woman should look like she could be an athlete, in some way, shape, or form. There's lots of different kinds of athletes, so women who are athletic will also cover a wide range of body types.

For example, a thin woman could be called athletic because she's a distance runner. Another could be a weightlifter and have a lot of muscle. And another could be into yoga and be of average build, but with some tone.

In general, when I see "athletic" in a profile I expect the provider will have a healthy-looking body.  But I don't depend on that one word to tell me what to expect. I read her reviews and review her photos--with the reviews giving me some idea as to whether the pics are accurate.

When I was younger "athletic" meant a thin girl with good muscle tone and definition. In the case of taller girls it seems that athletic means thick. Is size 10 athletic?  In the case of the short ones it often means thick legs or big shoulders. Descriptions such as average are often thinner than athletic. Thin often means skinny. Have the physical descriptions become useless?

anything from a Russian Ballet Dancer to a Bulgarian weight lifter.

I agree its the most widely interpreted body description we have, and unfortunately the most useless.

If you look up what the average size/weight is for women today most publications say the average american is 15-20 lbs overweight, so if a chick is just thick in certain places but not always from body fat, probably described as athletic. When I grew up, it was women who looked like softball players and who were pear shaped that had the athletic tag on them... yes, things have changed, because athletic did not mean small back in the day. It meant big boned, tall and solid.

My upper body is a lot bigger than my lower, but I am also mostly muscle as of a few months ago. I think the problem is, you have gals who are 200 lbs. with 'baby fat' on their profiles so if someone only a little overweight also has that same tag, it just looks odd. If a 200 pound person is considered to have 'baby fat' then a gal at 130 would not be in that same category. I would never put 'thin' on a profile unless the girl was bone thin like Claudia Cole... she has an 18 inch waist.  I am 5 ft. 2 and under 110 lbs. but I still look like I weigh more until guys see me in person and realize I am d*ck high lol.

From what I've learned, the body type selection is set by the first person to review that lady.  No matter what someone else enters in subsequent reviews, that does not change.

Perhaps if there is a drastic change (especially for the worse) then it might get edited.

As with all descriptions, they each can and do mean something different to everyone.  Yes, one person's "athletic" can be another person's "thick".  What is "thick" or voluptuous to one person will be another's definition of "baby fat" or "heavy".

Of course there are athletes who are a size 10, and even larger.

Weren't they always?!   LOL!
Seriously though....you can use them as a guideline, but I've never thought they were truly definitive.
Reading multiple reviews to get an idea of how most people describe the lady's body is likely your best bet.   :-)

The average female is 20 pounds heavier than the ladies of the 80's from what I read. It seems like political correctness is the reason hefty girls are being described as "athletic."

I can only imagine how many 5' 2" 200 lb heifers would have their body type listed as "average" if hookers filled out their own profiles.

I think it's equal parts political correctness, lack of standards from the reviewers, and cowardice that accounts for "hefty" girls being described as athletic.

So if "hefty" girls are being called athletic because of PC then "big" or husky" guys are just a PC way of saying fat. Fat is fat in either. GaG said it best...athletic can be ballet to bodybuilding (my addition). It depends on what level of athletic one is used to.

I beleive in this industry the physical description lies in the eyes of the beholder.  Like others have said "thin" or "athletic" to one person can be interpreted as skinny or average to another.

I was recently with a provider and part of her description had "skinny" and her bust was 34-35 C.  In actuality she is this and toned with just about the perfect B cup

Is a combination of pics and reviews that say "pics are accurate"

Even glowing reviews don't mean much to me as some reviewers just flat out have no taste, and other reviewers are scared to tell the truth.

I always like to "weigh in" (pun intended) on these discussions by suggesting that TER add BMI to Profiles.

I've had some disappointments when "thin" turned out to be "plump" and "athletic" turned out to be "chubby" but I know not to trust those terms as much as a verbal description in the review.

I was thinking of carrying a portable scale and tape measure with me to my meetings but it could ruin the atmosphere

Yes the profile is written by the first reviewer but a provider can contact TER to update her services on TER.  I'm not sure if we can change our physical description.

10 pounds to her weight and five years to her age. Reduce her scores by 20%.

That should give you an accurate picture.

This is the exact reason many have to lie about their age and weight... most figure you are doing just what you said so if hse is really 30 she will put 25 since you're adding 5 years. And, adding 10 lbs. is stupid as hell unless she is over 5 ft. 6 and that would not be noticed. If she is under 5 ft. 3 10 lbs is A LOT of weight to hide.

Look at the pictures, read the reviews. When she answers the door if she misrepresented her physical attributes in a way that is unacceptable then walk away. Game over.

Not useless. If you walk away you get blacklisted. Pictures are often Photoshopped. Reviews are often written by guys who gave up their real name and just want to please the girls. Usually you can add 5-7 years in age and 10-15 pounds in weight. There are exceptions but spare us that reviews are accurate in terms of age and weight. This is true of the 9/10 types too.

I've walked away on more than one occasion. Never been blacklisted. I did not say pictures would be accurate. I said if they where not accurate then walk away. So spare me your bullshit for posting another useless thread.
