The point is, we don't know what the violation was.  We just assume there was one.  The thread I'm curious about mysteriously disappeared after a lengthy discussion.  It didn't seem to violate any of the rules.  It would be nice if they informed the public why it was deleted.  Otherwise, we just assume the worst and that is not good for TER's reputation.  All TER has is its credibility.  As soon as they lose that, what's the point of this site?  Erotic literature?

Your example doesn't work considering what I've seen on other boards in the past. Unless it violates TER's policy, it's posted and only the OP can request it's deletion.

You sound like someone else on this board. I don't have much use for that person and from what I've seen of your posts, your pretty much in that same boat. Just another axe grinder.

I'm just curious, who moderates the San Diego board?  Is it a local hobbiest or provider?  Or is it someone not tied to SD?  Thanks!

Usually when an Admin or Moderator posts, their handle is highlighted in Red.  I've yet to see that on this board.  So it's anyone's guess at this point.

A provider once told me who she thought the moderator was, but I'm pretty sure she was wrong because this person's handle is never red.  Honestly, I doubt the mod will step up.  He or she would've responded when my post was approved, right?

Hard to know for sure, but most of TER's administrative staff is not in this country.  They do claim they also have staff in the US but it's doubtful there's anyone in SD itself.

They both used to moderate the forums here in SD and LA and OC until the TER change
They might have answers?

But as of now I believe there are no "moderators" per se, just TER staff and I believe each has their own "ID number" because I'll be messaging one staff about something and it's signed "TER Support" with a multi digit number in brackets. If a post is under "moderation" it just means staff needs to approve it before it goes live.

They could certainly tell you how things worked when they were moderators, but they wouldn't really have insight to how things work now. When TER removed the volunteer mods, they did it suddenly, with no warning or no real explanations. Kind of pulled the rug out from under them. Moderators woke up one morning and were unable to login as moderators.

Some of them were local to the area but not all (sometimes one person would moderate multiple boards.) In Feb 2012, the volunteer moderators were all removed and all moderation since then has been done by paid TER staff. (Probably not even in this country, since TER headquarters is not in the USA) and by regular members through "report this post."

When a staff member posts on the board, their name will be in red (see the TERAdmin post in the thread above) but they rarely post on the boards and do most of the work behind the scenes.

Has admin ever approached you about their ability to remove a negative review or forum post?  You know, like, if you do this, or that, I'll delete that bad post for you . . . hint, hint.

It seems like some useful info tends to disappear at times.  It's suspicious and unfortunately compromises the credibility of this site.

Now for the honest answers . . . Lol

The moment this occurs, TER would lose all credibility from both sides.

Hobbyist are noted to attempt to gain extra favor by attempting to use their review as leverage.  That has been so well documented here.

As far as disappearing posts and threads, this can only be done by the originator of the post. Yes, I've notice a few threads and some responses disappearing from time to time.

HappyCamper - Posts and entire threads are NOT only removed by the originator.  Here is a GENERIC scenario and the way I understand the process:

1. A hobbyist starts a thread or post response with some honest (and valuable) information.  This could span the gamut from CALLING OUT a provider for shitty service or attitude to inflated/false reviews to the AGE being inconsitent with photos to a provider not responding in a timely manner to emails to .... you name it

2. The provider will then contact ADMIN and complain that the post just isn't fair

3. This is the part I think Bic is referring to - POOF!  The post disappears for reasons unknown

Because this happens, I feel this site is a less valuable tool as it stacks the deck in favor of the provider.

An ANALOGY - Imagine going to Vegas and sitting at the blackjack table.  You put some chips up and make your bet.  The dealer gets a blackjack and you have a losing hand.  You COMPLAIN to the dealer that you don't like your hand.  The dealer says "Oh I'm sorry.  Lets ERASE that hand.  Here's your money back" - pffft Right

ANALOGY #2 - Someboady rights an OP-ED article about some person in the public light.  They go on to write that the person looks much FATTER in person.  Said person contacts the newspaper and says that comment was rude.  Please remove it.  pffft RIGHT

Conclusion - One of two outcomes 1. I think other sites will pop up that allow for honest and un-biased opinions.  We just haven't seen it yet.
2. Hobbyists get smart and don't believe everything they read or in this case DON'T read

There is a saying that I don't recall who said but it is relevant here -

"I believe none of what I see, and even less of what I read"

Goldie - This seems to be a case of you being distracted a little bit.  If you rre-read my thread LOOK at bullet point #3.  K?

What is really NEBULOUS is the way posts get removed.  That was my point.

YES - AGREE it must violate some of TER terms but nobody knows why.  So your staement was pretty OBVIOUS.  K?

You (and your posse) seem to be very "up on the rules".  We don't all study the rules.  Speaking for myself ... Im pretty simple - I just want the TRUTH.  No bullshit.  The truth.

I think what you are observing in this thread - UNLESS it gets taken down for non-obvious reasons is the hobbyist BROTHERHOOD starting to demand THE TRUTH.  Not truth filtered thru the minds (or other body parts) of someone who just got a DISCOUNTED RATE.  THE TRUTH.

My advice.  Go back and read what I posted and then respond.  Then feel free to tell all your "fans" how you were personally threatened by this thread.  That seems to be your MO.

Anita :)

Why aren't you posting what you believe is a problem on the appropriate board?  Make the suggestion and see what the responses are.

Hi Happy Campy - Sorry I have been living here in Australia for too long.  We use "posse" to be slang for friends.  I can assure you that TER board admins regularly remove threads for reasons that they say violate their terms which seem to be very subjective.  Not going to debate this with you - it is what it is.

Cheers Mate!

AHappyCamper, this wouldn't be the first time they've had this issue.  Check the "criticism" tab in the link below.

I'm starting to feel the same way.  I have been a member here back in the days of lareviewer and blue pond.

Agreed.  Although I still  post here, TER is no longer my go to for hobbying.  A big reason for this has been this obviously filtered discussion board.
