END OF MESSAGE

I noticed in another thread that sometimes a nice wine is appreciated as a gift.  Personally I haven't had the opportunity to gift anyone a bottle of wine (yet).

This question goes out to all our providers out there...day's your favorite wine?  I'm hoping y'all will answer with a corked type and not the twist off capped bottles lol

D.

my favorite is type riesling and i have not had one that i did not like...from the finest restaurants to the local liquor store, corked and screw top...there is a nice balance of sweet with dry and is wonderful with anything...best served between 45-50 degrees F and usually this is easily achievable with about 20min in the fridge

I think you should check her website under gifts. Or better yet ask first. Can you imagine if every hobbyist brought wine to a provider and she had to drink at least a glass each session. What do you think she will be like at 8pm that day? LOL

that is a good idea...did not think of it because i do not have a website and i never expect gifts anyways...also, if i had a glass of wine with ever one in a day, i would only have one glass of wine, so let's drink the bottle :)

Seriously though, the best wine gifts are drinkable and affordable. I’ve discovered some real hidden gems thanks to clients.  Wine should be shared and enjoyed, not treated like a relic in a sacred shrine.

But we know what you mean... In the olden days, the only screw tops were Annie Green Springs, Ripple and Thunderbird. Now it's a different story. I think you have to know something about the woman to choose a nice wine. Some only drink red, some only drink white. Some are stuck on Napa and really don't enjoy Italians or even French. Many of us enjoy good, French champagne and it's a fairly safe bet, but some people get headaches from it. Check our sites for a gift tab. I have a bottle of Solaia on mine.

If you're having a Petrus share a '61
and they are surprisingly available.
On a lighter note Chandon or Mumm Rose
works : )

unclear whether people are joking or being cynical. '95 Petrus starts at $2000 and '61 vintage (an epic year in Pomerol) starts at $7000....if you are lucky to find it
good news they are now some americans who like merlot!

They said "whatever tastes good to you". If you like a $9 bottle of wine you should drink that.

I don't have a refined wine palet, but I do like a good Bourbon.

some will buy (and pay) for a prestige label. Some will buy (and pay) for ratings.

I think it's more fun to enjoy the journey and find what I like, and certainly more challenging and satisfying to find a great wine at a reasonable price.

So long as I can drink it and enjoy it, all good.

I like sparkling wines...  try Charles De Fere NV Brut. Classic champagne (without the appellation) at about $12/bottle.

Oh my, an I thought I liked expensive wine. My favorite is Caymus, melts in your mouth. Far Niente is also excellent Mr. Fisher. If it's on her website what she varietal she likes, I'll bring a bottle for us to enjoy or she can just have it. Or I may ask if there's something she'd like. One girl I know likes pink moscato. She'll add fruit to it an we'll imbibe it during the session.  Love wine.

Or at least that is the general consensus these days. Cork can dry out and degrade which can cause the wine to oxidize in the bottle before it is opened. And there is the added benefit of not breaking off part of the cork or having it fall into the wine (because I've NEVER done that, lol).

In terms of the actual wine, I'd ask the lady what she prefers. We all have different tastes.

in terms of quality. But... I still sort of love the tradition and ceremony of the cork.

On TER and Urban Dictionary, most people think of taint as the skin between the pussy or balls and the asshole: 'tain't pussy and 'tain't asshole.  Not the crack and not the sack.  Also known as the perineum.

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=taint

In this thread, there is also "Cork Taint" which is what happens to wine when exposed to some chemicals from some corks.  As noted, many good vintners are switching away from corks

I can recall being the beneficiary twice of a bottle of wine that was re-gifted to me on account of the gal not being able to take the bottle with her.

So, for what it's worth, I like merlots and cabernets, especially from Napa.

(Far Niente would be very nice.)

I don't drink and I have a very nice collection of wine that I usually re-gift. I am not a fan of a john drinking before a session with me. The smell of booze breath removes DFK or LFK from the menu.

I appreciate it when a provider states clearly on her web site, p411 etc what she likes to drink. Sometimes it's non-alcoholic. Maybe just water!  Even when a provider likes alcoholic beverages, a lot of my dates are in the morning, so the preferred beverage for us then is coffee or tea or water or fruit juice etc--but not wine.

Tea, coffee, water etc. are offered due to the hours I keep when working.

I don't drink tea, but I don't judge people who drink that shit early in the morning, I refuse to be held to a different standard. "Wine, the new coffee" lol

Ok, I'll fess up, even I can't imagine drinking wine until at least lunchtime, and I rarely show up to a session with alcohol on my breath just in case the lady feels the same way as you about alcohol on my breath. Even a drunk like me knows that all the mouthwash or breath mints in the world is NOT going to get rid of booze breath.

Under all that assholishness you are a gentleman and a giant softie, but I won't tell anyone.

some do not drink when providing...   others may be recovering from substance abuse...

I got most of my favorite wines by lovely gents like you, including a 180 dollar bottle of Quintessa which is my ATF. Cakebread and Kendall Jackson, seconds. I don't check bags so a few times I either had to drink them before leaving or, toss them which really sucked. I hate wasting good wine.

Kendall Jackson is one very small step above box wine. It's like the "Ernest and Julio Gallo" of the 21 century. Or were you perhaps talking about what a great cooking wine it makes??? lol

Hey... I like what I like lol. KJ has some good shit, but Quintessa is my gold standard. I do not think it's comparable to Gallo...  bluck!!! When you're broke, even that box wine is better than being sober lol. I have drank Strawberry Hill and Maddog before... don't act proper ha ha ha.

GaGambler387 reads

So I won't ever have to drink that swill or Kendall Jackson ever again. lol

Well, in some restaurants, especially chains, KJ is sometimes the best you can get though, but I would hardly call it a favorite. Puhlease!!!

Strawberry hill and MD2020 take me back to some wild college days.   KJ does make a nice Ice Wine i like from time to time.   Makes and excellent desert wine.

Ask the provider that you're booking when you speak with her. There are so many different types of wine. and the best part is, as long as you bring it sealed, you both will enjoy it :)
