Photos, ads, and other things I'm curious about...

The loss of photo theme days has set off a maelstrom of dialog for and against.  I, for one, liked them, at least here on our local board.  I never looked at many elsewhere because it seemed pointless, since I don't travel much these days.  While it is true, as some have pointed out, that a few ladies continued to use the same tired photos, I really didn't find that to be the rule here.  Just my opinion, and I'm sure there are different ones.  The thing I don't understand is why some seem to think that this will mean the end of world for our local board.  I just don't agree.  I think 'forced' efforts to 'keep things alive' will serve us a far worse fate.  I have been thinking a lot about photos and their impact, so here are some real questions.  Answer one or answer them all, or don't play at all.  No bother to me, but I am curious.

1) Will the loss of photo theme days and that marketing opportunity, increase the number of ads ladies post?  I know you can only have one every 7 days, but many don't post one every week.  Will this change at all?

2) Knowing, as you must, that guys are visual creatures, why do some ladies post an ad with no photo?  A good photo is a 'hook' for most of us.  I rarely, if ever click on a website link in a long verbal ad with no photo teaser, no matter how clever the content.  Will the loss of the photo theme change ladies thinking on this?

3) Some ladies really get it and post multiple photos in an Ad thread.  Will the loss of photo theme days inspire ladies to post more photos in their ads?

4) Assuming that it is understood that photos can be one of the most powerful marketing tools, why do you think some ladies continue to use the same photos for months or even years, while others go to such great effort to keep theirs fresh and current?  Is it expense?  Cover up (i.e. deception)? Laziness?

5) What can you do, or have you done about changing TER's position on Theme Days?  (Assuming you disagree with the current change)  And if you like the new change, Why? (answer this one only if you can explain without the tired 'ole boy' party line, and actually express a reasonable opinion)

I don't think I can respond to all of your question. Besides Julia has already provided insightful comments to your post. But I do have an opinion on Theme Days.

Firstly, I remain perplexed by the gents that bitched about this. I mean WTF. This is a board dedicated to Eroticism. Plus if they don't like it they need not open the thread. As for me I'd much rather view an enticing pic of a hot lady and smile at their clever comments than see another post about Aunt Flo , EROS ads, Provider emails etc ..... I swear , some of these guys really just want a board for dudes. No girls allowed !

The main thing is Theme Day was about a lot more than Pics. It allowed opportunity for friendly banter and for ladies to display personality as well as physical attributes.

I have no objection to the new Photo Board. I guess it could be a way for ladies to catalog their pics for potential clients. But it in no way provides the spice of the Theme Days.

Sadly I fear TER is listening to the louder members and not the solid hobbyist or ladies that make TER intersting. This disappoints me.

There were options to consider. Hell, they could have least considered a compromise of limiting Theme Days to once a week

Thanks for a thoughtful post. Well done. I kinda wish you had put this on the General Board for larger viewership.

I am not sure I have any worthwhile answers to the questions, but I can always depend on Julia to provide better ones anyway, so I am not going to try.

She has not paid me anything to say this, but I so respect Julia for her outlook. She is the consummate professional. She understands her business, understands how to market herself and her profession.

Rather than getting all involved in emotional responses to anything, she looks at things logically, decides how a change in the outside environment will affect her, and incorporates that change into her business model.

Wow, what a concept. If more people in this world would accept change, and decide how to use it to their advantage, or at least not let it slow them down, we would all find less stress in our lives. I fifind in my own business that change often frustrates me, and it is easy to complain about it. But the smart people (like Julia) adapt and adjust and find ways to make things work to their advantage.

Of course in her case, her marketing skills are combined with exceptional customer service and customer experience that makes me wonder why she has to market at all !!!  But we all need to keep our message fresh and she has articulated eloquently why and how she does so...

this is not a paid advertisement. However, if Julia would like to hire me as her PR guy, she is welcome to !  :)
