What does everyone like to do to keep in shape? I like to keep as equipment free as possible, so I do stuff like running, pushups, pullups etc. There's one super good piece of equipment though, called an ab wheel, that you can even make for yourself cheaply with a few things from the hardware store. It's great because exercises like situps or crunches often require high reps and a lot of time, whereas abwheel rollouts will really tax you in fewer reps. Here's the instructions for making and using the wheel: http://www.rosstraining.com/articles/wheel.html

Or I suppose you could splurge and buy one of those "fancy" ones at a sporting goods store for around twenty bucks. lol

...BTW, I'm looking for a new trainer, any recommendations?

I know some providers do long dinner dates and such... wouldn't a workout session followed by shower and a roll in the bed afterwards be fun? I bet there would be a niche that would pay for this. I think it's a turn on to see a woman all flushed and sweaty, and also working out tends to make you horny afterwards. Plus it can be a bonding experience... win win all around!

talk about opportunities to incentivize me to reach goals..."hold that plank for two minutes or no CIM today!" I love it.

I have offered this to a select few, funny we talk about it and how fun and hot it would be- but they never seriously take it.

No less than 2 hours a day, 5 days a week. Went from 125 to 107. I live in a high rise so we do 45 minutes of stairs, then weights. I have a treadmill in my condo so I alternate that, running on the beach and the cross trainer in the gym. I don't know what I am going to do if I ever have to move into a single family home again lol. Those stairs are amazing!

Wow two hours a day! I'd have a hard time disciplining myself to that.

My trainer makes sure I am ready to go at 6:30 so I am usually up at 5am. I always worked out since I was like 15, then kind of just slacked off, started eating too much, drinking too much etc. for a couple years. Felt bad, looked bad... you know the drill.

Can't get myself to do 20 minutes a day... Never been an in-shape person, and with 3 jobs, I claim no time. Of course, if I really wanted to, I am sure I could make the time.

I used to do soft sand runs when I lived in Florida, talk about rubber legs the next day!

That way you will stick around and entertain the board.

Note the far away stare she has...creepy.

I didn't look at it all that closely before but yeah, she could be...not cool

I mean, you ask the interwebs for hamster blow jobs and poof! Hamster blow jobs. Somewhere in there is the end of western civilization. Or a new Renaissance. Something.

Yah, not kinda... very bwahahaha. You said "LR at work and play" so work connotes a BJ and/or a 12 hour day for shit pay.

It was tough but it felt good afterwards. I changed the way that I eat and btw I hate that word, diet! YUCK!! I spent today out at the store picking up healthier meals and snacks and planning my food. I actually like working out! I was drained afterwards but it felt good! :) Something about the sweat and heart racing like something is after it was exhilarating!!! I go back tomorrow and am very much looking forward to it!!

I definitely think that I will keep this up! :) I am anticipating it and even though I will drive in the rain, I am about to leave. :) Oh yeah to a new lifestyle change

I have a fitbit but only wear it to track my sleep habits. My workout regimen is like a second job between the lifting, the food prep, chiropractic and massage to keep me in the gym all week. But I tell you the result is worth every ounce of pain and kitchen time.

also 100 reps with ten pound weighs doing curls to keep from having to wear a manzier.

lot. Every day and I mean every fucking day.

I see a ton of people around my town who wear them, but talked to a hardcore trainer and he said they give a false sense of how much a person actually works out. IOW, if you burn 500 calories in a normal day of yours, some assume that is their work out and don't do an actual heart pounding cardio/weight lifting session. Anything extra burned after the work out is just that... extra, but don't think that is all we need. Let's be honest, if sex burned that much damn fat no provider would be over 90 lbs.

Would love to hear some thoughts and experiences on those of you who have used one.

I work out constantly and just don't care how many calories I burn.  I manage my intake and weigh myself every day.  Result?  I have the body of a god.
Bacchus

true story, or so says Wikipedia. I don't know shit about mythology.

Recently, (About 6 months ago..?) I actually got myself motivated to exercise again. I've lost about 20 something pounds.

I run 3-4 times a week on my treadmill for 60-90 minutes.
Sit ups and crunches on my ball (Yoga ball?)
I have 2 lb hand weights
I do squats, lunges, planks and leg lifts
I also sometimes do Shaun T Videos, though I can not do the whole plan, way to vigorous and repetitive for me.
I also have a yoga and pilates video.

But, what I really want to start doing to keep in shape is Hot Yoga and Pole Dancing. I think both would be A-MAZ-ING. And, I am definitely buying the fit bit the next time I see it.

I obviously, realize that the fit bit counting my steps doesn't = exercise because of calories burned. I am just interested in how much I burn on a daily basis in addition to the exercise that I do.

Speaking of which time to get on top of it....

My treadmill , I mean. :P

I don't get why people pay for gym memberships, yoga lessons, $10k bikes, etc...when you can just do f***in pushups!! Or a workout video. Or jog, swim, hike, etc.

I don't belong to a gym. Yoga/pilates lessons are a possibility, but only if I move back to an urban locale where it's not as easy for me to exercise outdoors all year round.

But I also bike, swim, do weights, run a little.
None of these nearly often enough so far this year though, but this is pretty much the time of year that I usually start ramping things up to get back in top shape.
And for abs, I think an exercise ball is great, but also planks and crunches.
Not a fan of the wheels.
