Good metaphor. Burning a bit of oil suffices. As does daily use. -e-

I like to use a Wok to cook my food.
A real Wok is never cleaned according to western standards.

When I make my friends food. They know, but don't like the fact that I never clean the tool I use to cook their food.
They eat it anyway. It hasn't made anyone sick.
If anything.. They love my food.

I suggest that you make use of said instrument in cleaning your wok.  Normally a bamboo brush and temperatures high enough to sanitize will suffice, but after a certain point it's best to scrub off the patina and start again.

You might add soap as a metaphor conversion factor, but keep the wire brush.

A real Wok can hold past, present, and future.
I smells, and tastes, and feels that way when used correctly:)
