Re: Blood pressure effects this a lot, especially if they've got you on meds for it.

Erin,

Thanks for posting.  I know BP meds can do that.  I could always orgasm, but it was just disconcerting (and a very strange sensation) to orgasm but not ejaculate.

The doctors had me under close eye during my stay.  They even told me that the blood work they had done showed no signs of the kind of kidney damage they were looking for, but they wanted the test anyway.  So yes, it is important and when the car is in the garage and the hood is up, may as well check as much as you can.  The kidney tests kept me in the hospital an extra couple of days, and even the docs said it was just being extra cautious.

I have great insurance and my whole hospital stay was billed at almost $100k, but I only paid $ 250.  I'm fortunate to have good insurance.

I do feel better.  I changed my diet and have dropped about 15lbs since the start of 2015.  My BP is better and I'm keeping a close eye with everything with quarterly visits to my cardiologist, kidney doc, opthamologist, etc.  Lots of doctor visits, lots of copays, but all the feedback is good, so I'm pleased and my doctors are pleased.  Thanks for the info and good wishes!

I had a hospital stay for crazy high blood pressure that led to heart failure.  I'm doing better now and the BP is under control.

While at the hospital they ran a bunch of tests to pad the bill, I get that.  One of them was a sonogram type test on my kidneys.  That was the only attention I had anywhere near below the belt.

Anyway, there was the strangest side effect to my hospital stay: I could orgasm but no ejaculation.  It was the strangest sensation and a bit disconcerting.  The feeling of ejaculation was there, but nothing would come out.  I was literally shooting blanks.  Very strange to me.

After about a week the semen returned, thankfully.  Never had that problem before, hope to never have it again.

Anyone else experience anything like this?  I was going to call in the medical pros if it lasted, but it came back by itself and has been fine ever since, so I didn't have to pursue it.

I mention the sonogram type test because that's the only test they did in the neighborhood down there and I don't know what else would have caused such an unusual (well, to me) side effect.

Anyway I still enjoy sex, it is just a bit different now. Glad things reversed themselves and things are back to normal but if it didn't it would not have been the end of the world.

I still would orgasm, just no ejaculation for about a week.  It was a very unusual sensation.  It wouldn't impact my ability to enjoy sex, but it was just unusual.  I didn't expect this side effect.  But the semen came back in about a week.  I know it's not the end of the word, but I'd prefer to have my semen back, that's all.

Wishing you the best in your health challenges, friend.

I am happy my cancer is in remission and my health is greatly improved. I will never be the stallion I once was in bed, and I never was much of one to start. But I still have fun and so do most of my partners and that is what matters.

This isn't unusual at all, and it's actually not unusual for things like this to last longer than temporarily.

Blood pressure medications, diabetes medications, blood thinners, etc all affect your ability to get hard but don't necessarily  affect your ability to have an orgasm.

and just a side note, that kidney sonogram they gave you was not to pad the bill. It was to make sure that your crazy high blood pressure didn't damage the blood vessels in your kidneys. diabetes and high blood pressure are the leading causes of kidney failure in the US.

I'm glad you're feeling better!

Retrograde ejaculation is not uncommon. It can be a side effect of certain medications. Ask your doctor about this. It is not dangerous but I unserstand your concern!

Thanks!  Like I said, the semen and ejaculation returned in about a week.  I didn't know how common or uncommon it was, so I just thought I'd ask around here

most of them have had prostate issues. They all still thoroughly enjoy sex and coming... and none of them has ever said that lack of ejaculate/semen really affects their pleasure.

Personally, I kind of miss it when it when it's not there... but that's just me. I like cum.

Me, too - you are not alone and most ladies here should be experienced with the situation.

I remember back before I hit puberty and was masturbating I'd still have orgasms but nothing would come out.

Unless you plan on having children I see no advantage at all with shooting out jizz. As a matter of fact it is BETTER to shoot blank.

First off you now don't have to worry about unplanned pregancy leading to a bastard. All the bareback sex you ever want unless with a high-risk partner.

Also shooting blank means you can orgasm more often. Does everybody know this little fact: that if nothing comes out you can get hard and ready to go at it again quickly?

No, it's not!  It's NOT SAFE!  Look up retrograde ejaculation.  The spinter gets confused & semen (mostly) goes into the bladder.  But that desn't mean there can't be some swimmers
