What is the optimal time prior to a date to take a viagra or levitra?  Thanks

Can't comment on Levitra but Viagra should be taken about an hour before the date. Also, avoid alcohol or fatty foods as this slows the absorption of the drug into your system.

Yup, stymie72,
about 1 hour before sexual activity, either one. And the advice about fatty foods and/or alcohol is correct. Other than that, PLEASE SEE YOUR DOC, and do not order off the Internet without a script.

Enjoy the ride,

Hello LG,
I just ordered online and supposidly a DR approved it. Is this legit? They asked me medical questions and other then having HBP, I am good to go.

The main reason NOT to buy online is that you don't know what you're getting.  There is a huge market for bootleg Viagra, etc. and most of the stuff is placebo or actually dangerous.  Even if it is real, you don't know if it's expired or otherwise been mis-handled.

At least when you go to a local druggist, you have some reason to believe that the drug will actually work.

Did a physician examine your actual body? Did s/he perform any kinds of tests? What kind of physician does exams over the Internet?!? Is it legit?!? Not in my mind, but heck, you can buy anything over the Internet. Is it legal? Yes, there is probably some kind of loophole that affords this company the opportunity to make a healthy profit off those who are not calling physicans for clearance exams.

Ok, let's pursue this from a different angle. A person you really love - your SO, Mom, Dad, kid - has a medical problem [just like HBP is a medical issue] and wants to take a drug that is available by prescription only. This means that for the initial prescription, the person needs to be physically examined by a physician. Now, the person tells you that s/he is fine and will order the med over the Internet. Wouldn't you encourage them to go see a doc first? Or would you tell your kid/SO/parent to just order off the Net?

Viagra is a drug. People have experienced vision loss. There have been deaths. Not many, but a few. As with any medication, there needs to be someone responsible. If you croak or become blind, or even experience adverse side effects impairing you temporarily, is your family or you going to take action against Internet company for selling you this stuff? What about this "DR?" Who is it? Where is s/he licensed? What if the license is restricted due to some infraction? Do you even know the name of this physician?

Please, please, please boys, do NOT treat Viagra like some over-the-counter pain reliever. It is a serious drug with some serious side effects. These side effects are experienced by a minority of patients, but nevertheless, it's not something you just pop without a physician's approval. Particularly not when you've been diagnosed with another chronic disorder like high blood pressure, for which I assume you are medicated. If I were you, jay1967, I'd hightail it over to my MD for a PERSONALIZED script. And then let him/her be responsible if the doodoo hits the fan.

Please, I can't be the only person urinating in the wind here,

If you have diabetes,as I do, you may also suffer from gastroparesis, very common among diabetics.   If so, your stomach will not empty naturally.   In my case, because of the gastroparesis, I take the Viagra two hours before activity.   One hour is not enough time for the pill to get into my system

I have mild diabetes controlled by meds but I have been made aware of the condition you mentioned by my doctor. One hour works fine for me but your post is just one more reason why you should see a doctor before taking any ED meds.

Still can vary. There are many people that it works up to 3 hours. Levetra the same,  of course Cialis is up to 28 hours, but they are going to produce an everyday cialis, will be on the market very soon.

Personally I dont care for either!
Viagra's OK, but it gives me a head rush for the first hour or so, not exactly pleasent.  Then my doc wrote a scrip for Cialis which was OK, I guess, . . . once the headache wore off.
