That's why it's important to choose the right charities, where there's only a small amount of overhead. As for favoritism, to each his own! If you have a special connection to teachers, maybe you'd like to give them a discount, if you love construction workers maybe you'd like to give them fifty bucks off! It's always up to the provider. :)

Hi All:

First post on this thread but long time member for 15 years.   Anyhow, I've recently noticed a few reviews by veterans who have made some incredible sacrifices for their country.  I've also noticed that the ladies they review have been equally incredible in how they have comforted them.

I just want to thank you both.

... before determining that this somehow should not be a legal activity.  Who are we trying to kid?  I'd say this stupid immoral morality we've somehow codified is based on a stone age mentality but I think the stone age had it more right than our elected representatives on this one.

Well, ok, maybe not the juicy details lol!

I am not a vet, and I did not see her simply for this issue, but the fact that she thanks the military on her website and actually puts her money where her mouth is by giving them an almost 20% discount was one of those intangibles that helped me decide that she was the one I wanted to see.

I may disagree with many of the ways our political class has used the military, but I do believe that they deserve our thanks and respect.   PSA, I really like the Wounded Warrior Project.

I have always thought it was a nice offer, and I have had some men use the "do you give Vets a Discount" my reply has always been, "I am also a Vet,  should you pay me more"

Honestly don't like it when anyone abuses their veteran status.  I have a friend who always asks stores for discounts and it's annoying.  Once I was in an admissions office getting signed up for school and there was a long line and this woman yells out "I'm a veteran I go to the front of the line" and just pushed her way through.  I'd like to think we joined the military to serve our country, not expect people to kiss our ass for it and ask for handouts.

I not only never got a "veterans discount" but I was all but spit on for having served, any many of my era were actually spit on for having served their country.

Quite frankly I don't treat veterans any different than I treat anyone else. Not all vets are "war heroes" but neither are they/we all "baby killers" I suppose I treat veterans the same way I treat hookers, I treat them like people. That's all I ever asked for, and that's all I have ever received, and I am just fine with that.

Some of us ladies are veterans too :)

Thank you for your service too.

Please remember to say thank you to active duty Service Members when you see them, I go out of my way to do so. Freedom isn't free.

I served during the early 80's, when we weren't involved in any wars, so my service wasn't any where near the sacrifice of those serving today or really within the last 24 years.

War sucks, but unfortunately our species always has and always will try to kill each other. It's simply a fact of life.

Anyway, I digress, thank you for your recognition.

Thanks for the pm SC, I hope you got my response.
I have gotten nothing but positive responses from the members and providers on TER when I've had questions at the beginning of my hobbying adventure. I was so worried that having lost my arm and the other being in a brace would bother providers but so far no problem.
I would never expect or request a discount from providers simply for being a vet, but I wish people like breannabreeze would understand that some places offer discounts to active duty or vets, like Verizon or many restaurants as company policy. i don't expect people to kiss my ass or expect hand outs but if someone asks what happened to me, I am proud to say that I was injured while serving my country and that is all. I don't get into the politics of war or want people to pity me, I chose to join the military I had a job to do, and I was damn good at it and that's that.
Breannabreeze also needs to realize that when I came back from 4 TOD's in Iraq and 3 in Afghanistan, my head was not in a very good place, besides suffering from PTSD, being suicidal, and having life changing injuries, I wasn't in a good place so if a women yells out that she was a vet and should go to the front of the line, she might not have been all there.
I know many people have different opinions about the war but this hobby has afforded me the pleasure of companionship with beautiful women for an hour or 2 with no worries of anyone passing judgments for what I've done in the past whether they agree with it or not. I can feel somewhat "normal" again.
Thank you for listening.

I served in an Army medical unit during the Vietnam War, and have the greatest respect for wounded vets.   I'm really impressed that you are able to so openly discuss your disability, and glad that you shared it with our community.  Best wishes to you, and happy hobbying!

And a salute to the ladies who so have been so supportive and accepting of men with disabilities.

Please don't misunderstand me; I have the utmost respect for disabled veterans, especially those injured in combat.  You rightfully deserve all the perks of being a veteran.  I was speaking of those who take advantage of it, such as the two people I mentioned.  Some POGs will spend all their active duty time in an office than get out and act like they are something special.  My ex was 0352 but he often had to take a rifleman billet and came back with very bad PTSD so I know being a Marine grunt is one of the hardest jobs out there.

I'm a vet as well, but I don't do discounts like that; I prefer to take off a certain amount from the session with proof of the client's contribution to any of my favorite veteran-focused charities. That way, I'm not showing favoritism towards fellow vets. :)

what would be so wrong with showing favoritism among fellow vets?  i am also a vet and i would have no problemgiving a discount to another vet.  even if someone donates to some charitable organization, it doesnt mean that the vet will ever see any of that.  most go to the big guys paychecks, instead of who they are there to help.  for example...
