I have been seeing some providers that want to check your identification.  This is kind of a strange request considering that they advertise discretion.  What are they checking for?

It cannot be to identify law enforcement, because, well hey, they have IDs too and it isn't like the DMV stamps "COP" on the ID that a police officer gets.  How would they know if you show an ID that you aren't a police officer?

It seems difficult for me to see how it can protect them from weirdos and violent men because, again, it isn't like the DMV stamps "BEATER" or "THIEF" on a driver's license.  The other screening like references and association with a review board should be more effective.

In fact, it seems like a great way to blackmail a high profile hobbyist.  Any idea how checking an ID helps the provider?

They take your name when you reserve for the first time (agencies), so they have a record of your name and phone number. Just in case you beat her up or something like that. I mean every agency keeps a book, even if they say no... This is just simple common sense.

In that case, the ID is supposed to identify that your name indeed is true. I read this somewhere years ago.

Some case, they check the ID to make sure your age is right. (though happens rarely)

I never understood it neither. But my experience was that this happened with agencies and rarely with independents.. At least in the Midwest (non-Chicago)...

Nowadays, I just don't prefer to show them my ID. If anyone asked, I would just give them a grimy face. I don't know.

Besides age, you are right. I don't see a single reason why they would "need" to see an ID. Just forces the client to bear all the unnecessary risk.

If a lady did a verification on "John Smith", many ladies like to take that final step to ensure that you *are* actually "John Smith."

Did you use a verification service?  Some of them have a piece of your ID number in your member number, and this is a way to help ensure that you are the member who you say you are.

Was there no screening?  Then the only things I can think of are that the lady wants a name to tell the police in the event you decide to rob and rape her, or that you have a baby face and she doesn't want to get hit with a statutory charge.

Yep, that.

I don't claim that knowing someone's real name prevents that person from doing bad things... but in my own personal experience I've had far fewer problems with men who were fully screened with their real names & ID than those who used aliases.

And guess what?  I consider myself to be discreet.  Safe and particular, but discreet. :-

She could do her screening and everything checks out. But that's not the guy who shows up at the door.

You're less likely to rob me or get violent with me when you know that I know exactly who you are. I don't Xerox your ID with my eyeballs, I just want to make sure you are who you say you are.

Some guys have been known to use a friend or a relative's information to screen with because the gentleman wanting to be seen is blacklisted for misbehaving. So it absolutely does cut down on men behaving inappropriately. And if I can verify you identity there are many ways I can tell if you're a cop. I won't list how I do it, but I can.

A highly reviewed, well regarded provider like myself is very discreet with your information, but selective with those I spend my time with. I'd be more worried about the girl that's ready to take any fistful of cash to see any Tom, Dick or Harry. I have no reason to blackmail you and end my career. Duh!

Do you show your ID as well on request so we can be sure who you are.

My photos aren't blurred so how do you not know its me?! Pretty sure my reviews reflect my photos are accurate. BTW...this may come as a total shocker to you, but my ID doesn't say 'Alexandra Kole'.

When you have explicit reviews out there with your photos attached to them, fully nude photos on public display for anyone to see, and a professional webpage announcing yourself as an escort, then you can cry about mutual discretion. You're entitled to discretion only with me, not anonymity. There is a big difference.

When you've been stalked, robbed and raped, you cannot be too careful. And don't pull the whole 'providers rob and stalk too' card. I'm not saying there aren't crazy women out there, but let's face it, it's more prevalent among the gentleman. And well reviewed providers such as myself do not behave that way or we wouldn't be well reviewed. Again, I have no reason to end my entire career over misbehaving, but gentleman can misbehave and just move on to the next provider.

Until then, you'll show your ID, or you'll miss out on some really good providers. Your loss, never mine...

I would never show ID or share personal info. That's why I have plenty of references that can be used to verify me.
The vast majority of providers use references only
