The issue has come up in discussions regarding Tantric massage, where one can experience an orgasm without producing semen or ejacutate. Some of the exercises used to develop this ability seem to involve kegel exercises, and breathing while coming close to orgasming, in repeated cycles. I'm not certain I have this right, but it's what I've deduced from previous discussions.

Thank you for your help. It's so good to get the green light.

Dear LG,

I'm wondering if you have any opinion regarding the above mentioned question. I've had an enlarged prostate for about 10 years, not due to cancer, and it does not seem to effect my sex life in any way. I've been interested in the discussions about non-ejaculating orgasms and pursuing the practice of such, but I'm concerned about possible negative consequences.

Thank you for any insights or recommendations.

Dear mattrad,
I have no idea of what type of "non-ejaculating" exercises you are talking about, but in my opinion, anyone w/ a prostate - enlarged or not - should ejaculate as much as possible. It's good for the plumbing, period. Of course, if you speak to some urologists, they'll tell you that there is no "scientific evidence" for this BPH (benign prostate hyperplasia) recommendation, so the jury is still out. But holistic practitioners recommend ejaculating as much as possible...and, it certainly is the most natural way of penile functioning. Now this:

JAMA reported on a 2004 study by the National Cancer Institute that followed 30,000 middle-aged or elderly white men over a period of eight years. The Institue found that higher ejaculation frequency during the men’s early adulthood correlated with a significantly reduced risk of prostate cancer after middle-age. Men who had ejaculated 21 times per month were found to be 33% less likely to develop prostate cancer than those who had ejaculated four to seven times per month. The reported benefit appeared when the ejaculation frequency exceeded 12 per month, or approximately ever other day, and increased to the maximum of 33% when the frequency reached 21 per month--or almost daily. The benefit was also more associated with ejaculations before the age of forty. The scientists involved stated that the benefit was clear with the slow-growing, organ-confined types of prostate cancer but less clear with the aggressive metastasizing forms.

It’s believed that the benefit comes from three factors associated with ejaculation: reducing stress, reducing toxins in the tissues of the prostate, and clearing microdeposits from the ducts in the prostate gland. So now you know why I think it's really, really important to get your juices going!

Hail to the spoo,

My health plan actually pays for part of the cost of theraputic massage, but it looks like the happy ending could have more health benefit than the mussle work itself.

I ought to inform that about this.

I told her I need to cum so I don't die from cancer so please give me sex.

She said:  No sex.

See....she's trying to kill me!

I dated a sex therapist for six years and she trained me in the art of male multiple orgasms based on the technique of learning to control the PC muscle (pubococcygeus).

I'll make this brief to get to your point- when you strengthen the PC muscle sufficiently you can learn to squeeze it hard enough, and at the right time, to have an orgasm without actually releasing semen.  The "excersises" for this are simply strengthening you PC muscle- a perfectly harmless exercise that you can do at any time or place.  Think of the muscle you'd squeeze to stop urinating.  Many men think that's the same muscle as tightening their sphincter- it isn't.  With a little practice you'll learn to tell the difference.   The exercise consists of tightening the muscle and holding it for a count of ten, then relaxing it completely.  Do maybe ten reps for starters, a couple times a day.  You can build up from there, but in a few weeks of that you'll be ready.

The second part of this process is learning your body's sexual response cycle.  This is called peaking and plateauing and it helps you learn where you're at in your stimulation and also how to time your PC squeeze.  You don't want to be too late or early.

Now, to your point.  Back when I was tuned up like a Ferarri, I could do this technique for as long as I cared to- maybe three orgasms without ejaculation.  That may not sound like much, but the other benefit of mastering this technique is that you'll start to last much longer, so three can be enough to wear out most people.

BUT, at the end of all this sexual activity, you should always finish by having one great big ejaculation and orgasm, with a full release of all the semen that has been produced.

So the bottom line with this technique is that you're only delaying your ejaculation by the 30, 40, or however many minutes you choose to have intercourse before you finally ejaculate.  But you should always finish by ejaculating.  For this reason, my strictly non-medical opinion is that it shouldn't harm you in any way since you're not causing any build-up of semen that has to be reabsorbed- you're only delaying it's release by a fairly short period of time.

Now to LG's point about ejaculating being good for the prostate, I've read some similar studies, so I always make sure that I keep things moving on up and out, whether I have to do it myself or have a partner (Usually 5-6 times/week).  My father had prostate cancer and I don't intend to follow in his footsteps.

So there you have it- masturbating is good for your health!  It would be nice if more wives and GF's would realize this and make a daily release for their partner, whether by hand, mouth or intercourse, a part of their routine.  Why waste such a great opportunity to have  share a little intimacy.  Plus, why  force your husband to sneak off to masturbate when you could be sharing something together that was good for his health.   Even if you're not really in the mood to make love, a HJ in the shower followed by a little kissing can be a very nice way to end the day.  Oh well, I guess everyone has to have a dream.  :-)

And, your are right, I am confused, but you have cleared things up. I'm still in a dilemma in that the development of this ability was recommended by my Tai Chi and Qi Gong instructors, to allow for a full sex life but without dissipating sexual energy, which they view as detrimental to the practice of their respected disciplines. So, now do I go for increased pleasure and prostate health and release, or enhancing my Qi Gong and Tai Chi practices, and not release. Perhaps I'll just have to seek a balance.

Thanks again for the help.

If you have had the good fortune of spending some time with a good tantric surregate, as I have, one of the things she can help you with is controlling and actually achieving multiple orgasms, with out ejaculating.  Its a mental as well as a physical exercise that not only increases awareness of your own body, but has some truly wonderful results, if you are willing to exercise a little self dicipline and resist the urge instant gratification.

Each time you have an orgasm, your body generates semen, which eventually needs to get out. When it finally does, the the ejaculation you experience is a bell ringer!
