In the clubs you can save money by offering pesos usually when taking chicas to the room.  You won't save much on hotels and drinks.  Exchange in the US close to the border for the best rates.  No one can tell you how much to change unless they know what you are going to do.

I am planning my first trip toTe and was wondering about money, do i use U.S. dollars or exchange for Pecs and if so where can is the best place to exchange moneys well as how much should I exchange. Dollars or pecs in club or with girl in room.

It is best to have both pesos and dollars.  There are times and places where each will get you the better deal.

There are some who preach one should only pay in pesos.  I am not one of them.

There was a day (say when the exchange rate was 12:1) when some people like street girls who accept 200 pesos for 20 dollars as their mental math skills were weak.  Now that the pesos is over 16:1 these people have adjusted to the exchange rate.

Still sometimes one can do better with pesos than dollars when dealing with street and bar girls.  Escorts are (almost) always paid in dollars so if you are going to an escorts stick with dollars.

If you know how much to exchange great.  But if you have to exchange pesos back into dollars you'll likely negate your overall savings.

If you would have trouble explaining why there are pesos in your pockets (to a wife, boss, etc.) ALWAYS use dollars.

On the San Diego Side of the border you'll get a slightly better rate.

If you go to TJ infrequently IMO there isn't a lot of reason to use pesos.  It is only when you spend a lot of time there you'll get any financially significant savings using pesos.

But again:

I carry both as there are times and places that each one gets you the better deal
