Farmers Open at Torrey Pines, thought?

The PGA is back in town and I am thinking about heading out to watch.

Has anyone done this?  Is it worth heading to the course to watch or am I better watching it on TV?  Do you hang at one hole or follow a player or both?  I've never gone so wondering what works best

I've been to a PGA Tourney at Torrey Pines.  Not a Tiger fan at all. So he wasn't one I cared to follow. But you can follow a player or you can do both.
It's up to you as to how you want to enjoy your outing at the PGS tourney.

Definitely go.

The two extremes are (1) following a player or group around the course or (2) finding a good place to sit and watch many players come through.  For the latter, I'd recommend bleachers behind a par 3.  There's only one approach shot, and you can watch the ball come in and land, plus the sand play and putting.  You certainly can combine the two approaches--walk some holes, find a good venue, watch a few groups, repeat.

The South Course hosted the U.S. Open in 2008 and will be the venue in 2021.  If you are going to walk the course, pick the South.  It's longer and much harder, even without a demanding USGA set-up.

Ticket prices are usually reasonable and only a fraction of the $100+ for the Open.

The audience/gallery will be 70% male, but there will be lots of attractive women there.

Enjoy!  Check the rules about taking backpacks, lawn chairs, cell phones, etc.  Cameras are prohibited during play.

Shit I used to go every year and paid $10 to $15. You can usually get tickets from a pro shop where high school kids are selling tickets at a discount. If you want to watch "The Trainwreck" AKA Tiger good luck. It's usually 10 deep and hard to see much. Better to follow an up and comer like Jordan Speith. I've had a few friends play in it and that's always fun because you can talk to them as they play their round.

I don't recall the sources, but we typically paid below face value.  You may find people dumping tix at the parking lot or gate.  But if you plan to stay several hours, I think it's worth $50.

I have gone the past few years, and it's so worth it to go at least once! Course is beautiful, lots of eye candy and it's all around an entertaining time.
I prefer going the last day to see who wins and see the crowd at the peak of excitement. I usually walk around a bit, watch the players, but not exactly just follow one around, as I want to see a variety. Towards the end I sit by the last hole and there's benches and seats.
My incall is right next door in case I'm feeling randy. :)

Active and retired military can obtain free tickets by going to the tournament's website. You can print the tickets yourself, so no need to go to a will-call booth at the course.

Cobra...that makes sense now.  Did you fly one?
