Maybe getting one of those prepaid credit cards from a drugstore could work?
Just by the fucker with cash.
I never tried that. Just food for thought

I know that there are many here who participate and/or lurk without VIP membership who may wish to upgrade.   Assuming that Admin lets this post go through, it is PSA for both TER staff and any of you using your cc to pay for membership.  I had been afraid of doing it and it was not going to happen for me via reviews, because for many reasons, I am not a fan of the existing review system.

Yesterday, I paid using a credit card after verifying from the processors that they would not give any information concerning what I paid for if someone were to call about the charge, someone like my wife.   So far so good.    Well, within 10 minutes of processing the charge, I received a call from Bank of America about a potential fraudulent transaction.   I breathed a sigh of relief, at least they called me, not wifey.    Well, I get home 30 minutes later and she already has an e-mail from the Bank of America Fraud Department, she asks me about it and I tell her that it is just another financial newsletter.     I was prepared to explain that very matter of factly when the bill came in but the call and e-mail right away took me by surprise.   If my payment raised a red flag with my bank, I would assume the same potential exists for others.

Obviously, if you are not married, you don't give a fuck, but if you are, word to the wise, it is probably best to pay using the money order.

If they know you're planning a transaction then they won't bother calling.  Travel alerts can serve the same purpose if you know where the charge will originate - maybe TER Mods can answer that?  I don't feel like backtracking charges to find it

This has been discussed many times here. It is a result of the CC payment being for an overseas transaction which is a red flag for possible fraud to the credit card companies. Many CC companies will not process these transactions unless you call the CC company directly and let them know you intended to make the charge. The e-mail may have been automatically sent out the same time as then call to you.

This is one reason TER has other non-CC payment options.

a reminder is not a bad idea for those who  have not seen those discussions.   I have been hanging around for probably 8 months and I have read a lot of information, but this took me completely by surprise.   Since the point of using Segpay and ccbill is discretion, perhaps TER could put a little notation on the payment page concerning this issue.

IMHO, it's not wise to admit to anything. You have admitted both to BoA and your wife that it's your transaction. It could become evidence against you in court.

I really do subscribe to a lot of newsletters, it is nothing out of the ordinary.   I just wasn't prepared to explain it a few minutes after charging it, but it is OK, I bullshit for a living anyway.

I would make the call ahead of the charge every year. And about 80% of the time I'd end up having to tell some pushy ass at the bank that it was none of their damn business what the charge was for. So then a couple years ago I decided to send a money order....

So here is another PSA for anybody interested. If you do send a money order, don't put a return address on the envelope. Granted, if it doesn't get delivered you will eat the cost. In my case, about 90 days after I sent the money order, the damn thing was returned to my residence marked "Undeliverable as Addressed" Yeah, that letter. The one addressed to TER.

I guess it's a good thing I was home and got the mail before the SO saw it, eh

I know that when I mailed my P411 envelope, I  knew what the postage was supposed to be, but I put a LOT more postage on it than required just to make sure.    The people at the post office must have looked at it and thought "WTF is this, what was this moron doing?"

My VIP is about to expire and I was thinking of using a CC for quarterly charge but was hesitant. Thanks for the post to confirm my reluctance.

Last time I 're-upped' it was with a money order and I Did Not include a return address which drew some comments from the woman at the post office. I told her to just go ahead and mail it which evidently she did cause it did go through.

In my last case it did take about three weeks or so until my VIP kicked in. The time before that with money order it was considerably longer as I too just put a bunch of postage (way more than enough) on the letter.

I Really miss the old system TER used to have with Secure Cash. You'd just go to any of a number of banks pay cash and boom within a few hours the transaction was complete.

Chiguy

yeah, used that a year or two, while it lasted. For the record I also put a bunch of postage on the letter. End result no harm was done to any dumb animals, (me) and I got my money back! Life goes on,  without VIP.

You might consider getting a checking account that uses your business address as the mailing address...

Yes, I used a debit card without issue. In this day and age, you don't have a separate account from your SO? Probably not the best idea to all of the sudden need one....

Considering the rates these days, TER and P411 and probably other sites are a bargain. I think as a newbie I did it monthly, but after a hiatus, I paid for an entire year. Even if I quit tomorrow, it still paid for itself. Easily. Until you have full access to the reviews, ratings and yes ladies, its hard to judge its worth. I find it indispensable.

Now I just need to see two ladies a month to keep from paying again, until I hopefully drop dead between one of these hotties legs....

Once, you have reviews, a populated white list, or for P411, multiple Okays, you basically have unlimited access to any lady you want to see. Yes some require more screening but they are uncommon and you can choose for yourself if its worth it to you to see them.

If you are just sampling or if its a one off thing, I might not  do either. Though it may be tough to get anyone to see you. I'd probably go the MP route. I didn't at first, but it was from a lack of knowledge, I also kinda knew I'd like it and want to do it more than once. You can probably find one, get the hj, and write a review to get a little access to see if its for you.

For the year, TER and P411 are about the cost of a mid to high priced one hour date. Isn't that peace of mind worth it?

I'd tell you how to get dates as a newbie easier but you'd need to PM me.

...but I pay from a debit card tied to a bank account which does not have the wife's name on it.  Transaction always goes through, but even if it didn't, correspondence goes to my office phone and address.

Isn't it common sense to route all your hobby stuff through accounts, phone numbers, etc, to which your wife is not privy?  It can't be that hard to set up--my wife and I are all up in each other's financial buz, and yet I still manage to have a few "me only" accounts.

you could pay using a prepaid Visa/MasterCard...but alas that is not possible.  I wonder if paying via Western Union could be an option.  I think I will go to the suggestion board and suggest it!!

Have a great night everyone!!!

I forget ... Just what was the problem with TrustCash?  I never got to use it, but others reported an easy experience.

I don't remember TER Admins ever explaining why they stopped using, either.

Their FAQ says:

13. I am located outside of the U.S.. Can I add TrustCash to my website?
Absolutely! We allow all merchants to take advantage of using anonymous payment options to their existing website.

Maybe the processing fees were too much

I have tried that...you can only use it for purchases inside the US.

thanks bud! I was just about to make that same mistake.  Have anyone paid by money order? Did you have any Problems?
