My business partner used to keep an apartment in Medellin until recently, and probably spent about 7 months of the year down there.
I have been to Colombia a couple of dozen times, and absolutely love it, and I will vouch for the diversity in what is a rather small country by US standards. You have the beaches in Cartagena, and Santa Marta. (not a big fan of Barranquilla) the temperate foot hills of Medellin and Cali, and the high mountain valley of Bogota, just to mention a few of the high points.
and yes the people are anywhere from natural blondes in the north (Paisas) to a deep chocolate brown in the south and west, and all sorts of colors in between.
All in all it's a great country, with some of the hottest chicas you will find anywhere.
A great irony, at least for me, is that I have never partaken in the hobby there and I doubt I ever will. I am always with my wife or surrounded by family. Although I know at least one of my cousins plays around, I don't know, I would prefer for everybody to continue to have the mistaken belief that I did not turn out just like my father. Lol!
As for the paisas, well, both my maternal grandmother and grandfather's families have been in and around those hills since the mid 1500s.

Funny, I had a "non hobby" friend of mine a few years ago who thought the same exact way. Having visited Columbia, Brazil, and much of Mexico a lot over the years, I can confirm this. A few years ago I was in a club in Hong Kong (Wan Chai) and picked-up a visiting Colombian pro there who was the twin to Shakira. She travelled to HK and China for a few years during trade shows in April and October -- an amazing lady!
