I crossed 2 days ago and it took me 20 mins because I wanted to get oa 6 month pass worth 325 pesos ($21) and now I so not have to get in that line for creation of documentation but go through with the other Mexican Nationals just flash my documentation. It was painless and I see it not as a problem. I see that problem will be what will the US do to react to this new type of policy and the less amount of travelers that come for legal purposes and spend money there. I see the pesos to continue to fall and business to continue to die. This new policy is the death of businesses over in TJ. So it can be either more effective as things get cheaper or more expensive.
I understand Mexico is now stopping pedestrians going from San Diego into Tijuana, stamping passports (which are required), and charging $20 if you plan to stay. How's that working out?
if you are staying 7 days or less they are not charging for a 7 day visa. Not sure about the stamping of passports.
And of course if you have the pass card which is what I used they cannot stamp it.
Important note: if you use Global Entry, you will be required to have your passport book when you cross into Mexico. If you only have your GE card, they will deny you entry.
