ARPANET had trolls! The Well had Trolls!

2nd verse same as the first.

Maybe it's just my imagination but we seem to be neck deep in troll posts lately so I thought it might be fun to share a little insight into the psyche of the troll, at least according to one study. Enjoy reading about your f'd up wiring, trolls!

And I have a question for providers to go along with this, have you ever seen someone who you either knew or found out later was into trolling, and did you find them to be narcissistic or sadistic? While trolls mostly use aliases, if they're really narcissists I figure they'd be dying to tell you about their trolling.

With your post on the highlighting of your trolling.

Well at least you're consistent. And why, I wonder, would a post about trolls being psychopaths strike a nerve with you of all people? I am truly mystified.

Psycopathy, narcissism, and sadism are attributes of the human consciousness.

as to how do you define troll.

I have my own definition and its not so cut and dry, but I would let you first come up with yours.. Ladies who see guys, do it for money, so there is another variable involved here, but I am sure the ones who follow the boards may, and probably do, have their own definitions.

But this is just a troll post, so never mind. ;)

Anyone who posts solely to elicit, and get off on, shocked, angry, or offended responses. Certainly there are degrees of trollishness, just like there are degrees of being an asshole IRL, and I think that's where the definition probably falls short. Maybe trolls are like porn, hard to define but I know it when I see it.

theory is that people fall back and forth between the whole "attention seeking legitimate poster" and "borderline to serious troll" all the time. Its sometimes very hard to gauge whether person is being disruptive because he has sadistic nature or disruptive because of his attention seeking tendencies have gone over the line, or just having plain fun for sake of it. Its very much gray matter as most things in life are.

While one may consider all the aforementioned as "trolls" and would like to put them in one big bucket or paint them with the proverbial broad brush, I certainly don't feel that way. There are certainly varying degrees of nuances and shades to this behavior.

I don't think that contradicts my definition, but to does point up a problem with its practicality...only the poster knows if he or she is posting only to get some kind of thrill over the ensuing shit storm. That's why I asked if providers had found that "trolls" (whatever they think that means) make for shitty appointments.

And start by not reading the posts of known trolls like mtdewking and asscalade/NEG.

One in particular, is notorious on the boards. Not a troll, but an attention whore/shill and pretty much universally hated by everyone who knows his true colors. We didn't get along at all. He gave me a low-ish score (for him...couldn't be TOO low, because he'd lose his kickback from the agency) because I refused to BBFS and rim him, among other things. He was even more odious in person than you'd imagine. Still sticks out to me as one of my worst experiences, and this was nearly 5 or 6 years ago.

One guy I didn't want to see based on his board posts used a dummy handle and references to book me. He wasn't exactly a troll, just an asshat (IMO)...that was another awful appointment.

I'd never knowingly see a troll, even if he had good references. I don't want to come into contact with anybody who feels the need to behave hatefully online. That has to bleed into some aspect of the encounter, whether it's respect for time, my body...I'd rather never be in that situation, if I can help it. I don't want someone like that affecting the way I see my job, myself, or my life.
