I received a late night call last night from a provider and she was very upset for she thinks she might have caught something from a client by swallowing. She is scheduled sometime today to go to planned parenthood for a std test. She said that she didn't want to swallow and thought that the guy was going to ejaculate on her face when some of his semen got into her mouth. She told me she did gargle but sometime afterwards she started feeling sickish, feverish, hot on some places of her body. She now wishes that she never allowed him to do this on her face.  She told me that she started feeling sickish right around 15 to 20 minutes after the deed was done. I ended up talking with her through out the night and now even this has gotten me scared and contemplating on whether or not I will be practicing bare back bjs and just go for cbjs. But my question to those who may be knowledgeable would the symptoms for catching something orally (saying he did have something) be that soon?

Help!

There is absolutely no chance that this is caused by an STD. No STD would show its effects that quickly.

There is a posibility that she has had an allergic reaction to the semen, very rare but not unknown. Most likely though is that she is just overwrought by the idea of the possibility of catching something.

Another possibility is some drug in the clients system that didn't agree with her.

No STD works that fast.  Not even Ebola works that fast.

Only a few poisons work that fast. Its impossible for a virus to have symptoms that fast. Virus cells have to enter the body and reproduce many times to create enough damage for symptoms to appear.

Wow, finally a question I am familiar with.  The foreign protien ellicits the regurgitation reaction when enough is taken it.  Also, depending on the Ph of the stomach, the protien is usually deactivated rapidly.  What a bad answer to such a great act!  Later, Prolodoc, a complete newby..

The symptoms sound a lot like the flu. It could be that she caught the flu and it just manafested itself at that time. I've never heard of any STD's incubation time being less than an hour.

Seldom

good one...sounds right on the money

it is highly unlikely that a virus or STD  would present so fast.
I would Dx (diagnosis) for the following:

1. allergic reaction to some component carried by the semem - either from environmental sources or medications.  Allergic reactions can come from many things, including sources that the patient has never had a problem with before.
2. psychosomatic reaction to the event.  Note that the possibility of an allergic reaction can be increased by stress.
beyond that, I need more info for a Dx.  Does she have a history of allergies, asthma, skin problems?  Any of these would point toward an allergic reaction.
3. One significant factor: has she had any dental work done in the last 2 weeks, does she have any dental conditions.  Did she brush her teeth just prioir to the meeting - brushing too hard can cause gum bleeding and small lacerations.

In any case, she should see a health care provider ASAP.  I blood and urine panel are a good idea.

If the Dx is allergic, and the symptoms have resolved, then there is nothing further to do, except perhaps take antihistemines in the future.  If the Dx is uncertain, a course of tetracycline would be prudent, but any treatment should be as prescribed by the attending medical professional.
