My experience is that yes, people do make decisions on attending these event based on who may be coming, and that a number of ladies appreciate the publicity (in my particular case it's clearly optional- a number of ladies DO request not to be listed on my page, a request that I naturally honor). While there's certainly a purely social and enjoyable element to any meet and greet, I think one would be naïve to think that ladies don't consider it an ability to network professionally as well as socially, and a link on a web page listing their attendance may help that, by encouraging a potential guest to browse a web page or send an email and familiarize themselves with someone BEFORE meeting them at a meet and greet.

I dare say that if a number of ladies (such as yourself) considered the practice "tacky" and told me in no uncertain terms they felt it diminished their ability to enjoy an event I hosted, you'd never see it again. I believe that you're the first person to suggest that in a public forum.

In any event, this is why we have different events that are suited for the styles of different hosts and guests, because not everyone will do things the same way, and that would be rather boring, wouldn't it? Good luck with yours.
