Teflon Obama

While prepping for my show this morning, I started to make a list of the types of things that would have knocked any other candidate for office out of the running. I included associations of Barrack Obama’s, as well as gaffes and mistakes he’s made.

I had to stop after 25 minutes because I just had to move on to prepping the rest of the show, but I could have continued on much longer.  Folks, it’s amazing how many passes Obama has received.  I know it’s an overused charge by talk show hosts, but  any other candidate really would have been disqualified immediately, or mocked until their candidacy was a joke, if they had even a single one of these associations or mistakes.

I didn’t want this post to be gargantuan, so I give just the essentials. But these are all easily researched.

Associations:

Bill Ayers. What other politician wouldn’t even have to answer questions about his long and close association with a known and unrepentant terrorist?

Related to Ayers: This week’s revelation that Obama was a member of the radical ‘New Party’ in the 90s. This is a political party formed by socialists to push the country closer to socialism.  Obama was a member and got their endorsement when he ran for the Illinois State Senate.

Jeremiah Wright. Imagine if John McCain were a member of a mainstream church that was in the least bit controversial. Imagine if he had just gone a few times to see Jerry Falwell preach.  But Obama sits in a radical Afro-centric church for twenty years…week in and week out...and listens to all sorts of racist, vile, anti-American, anti-whitey, anti-Jew  crap, and maintains a very close personal association with this pastor. He gives one hollow speech, kicks Wright under the bus,and so much for that.  No questions can ever be asked…again…

Father Michael Flager: some white priest trying to ingratiate himself to the black community. A modern day reverse step-and-fetch it who spreads the same type of nonsense Wright does.

Obama’s not a Muslim. ….but he does have a number of Muslim associations that haven’t been investigated, including being friendly with Louis Farrakhan, who is another anti-America, anti-white, anti-Jew racist.

Tony Rezko…we all know his story.

Obama’s also got a fat poker buddy who is a county exec in Illinois who’s under federal investigation.

Obama’s  close ties to Acorn, and the revelation this week that his campaign paid acorn 800-thousand dollars to register voters and then hid that expense on their election reports.

Obama’s got close ties to Fannie Mae, including Franklin Raines, who skimmed millions from Fannie while running it into the ground, and now advises Obama on ‘housing matters.’

Gaffes:  Some call Biden a walking gaffe machine. Obama’s actually worse

He said he’d visited 57 states, with more to go. This guy is running for president and he doesn’t know how many states there are? Isn’t that worse than not knowing how to spell potato?

Joe Biden was called out for plagiarism. Well, Obama stole an entire speech from a black governor, Duval Patrick, and gave it as his own.

Obama often doesn’t know where he is: he’s called Sioux City Sioux Falls. He’s called Brownsville, Texas Brownville.
He’s called Rapid Falls Grand Rapids. He’s called Sunrise, Florida Sunshine, Florida..

Obama called a woman ‘sweetie’ while at an event in New Hampshire. That ‘offense’ alone would have ruined any republican politician.

Obama claimed that tornados in Kansas had killed ten-thousand people.  Actual death toll: twelve people.

Obama said his parents got together as a result of the march on Selma. He was born in 1961. The march on Selma was in 1965.

Obama said Iran is a small country, so it doesn’t pose a serious threat to us.

Obama said he’d meet, without precondition, with the world’s dictators and thugs.

Obama said Arabic translators that were in Iraq were needed in Afghanistan.  They don’t speak Arabic in Afghanistan..

Obama called Matt Lauer ’Tim’ three times in an interview, even after Lauer corrected him and said, I’m Matt….

Obama said he didn’t want to see his daughters punished with a baby.

Obama asked a crowd in Iowa…Iowa…if they’d seen the price of arugula lately.

And this is where I had to stop.......

The bankrupt economy is paled by comparison to the prospect of Obama becoming POTUS.  The economy will eventually recover, but America as we know it might never be the same again if Obama is elected.  It is almost impossible to turn back the tide if socialism once a nation is headed down that slippery slope.  This country is most vulnerable because there are so many have nots who will vote for any candidate who promises give away government programs.  We can see how devastating the 700 billion plus Wall Street bail out is; can you imagine what Obama’s trillion dollar social programs will do to the economy?

Obama will put us further down the path of socialism.  Thats like the pot calling he kettle black.

Wake up...we're already there with this bailout and guess what, it happened during a republican administration.

Go figure...the party/administration that redefine torture as agressive interrogation.

The party/administration that gave us warrantless wiretapping os US citizens.

The party/administration that gave us more presidential "signing statements" than any other administration.  Virtually ignoring the laws that congress passed.  Need I remind you that the executive branch is responsible for enforcement of law.

The Party/administration that replaced career govt employees and replaced them with idealogues ultimately leading to the failed "federal" response to Katrina...not to mention the occupation of Iraq.

The party/administration that has allowed al-queda to become stronger than ever...not to mention Iran's increased influence in the Middle-East.  Don't forget the election of HAMAS to represent the Palestinians and the Hezbolla becoming a legitmate politcal and military force in Lebanon.

The party that reneged on its congressional oversight ability that allowed Bush-II to run roughsod over our civil libierties.

Yeah..we have a lot to fear from Obama.

I know nothing of this group...Pray tell.  What makes this group "radical".  Being anti-conservative isn't radical nor fighting for decent wages or housing radical.

Please pontificate and enlighten us.

The New Party was established in 1992 "by union activist Sandy Pope and University of Wisconsin professor Joel Rogers," USA Today reported on November 16, 1992. The paper wrote that the new party was "self-described [as] ‘socialist democratic.’"

New Party Principles

The New Party believes that the social, economic, and political progress of the United States requires a democratic revolution in America-the return of power to the people. Democracy in America does not work today. The people do not rule. And they must, if we and our children are to lead lives of dignity, decency, and enjoyment.

Popular democratic organization should be encouraged and strengthened to make this peaceful revolution. Ordinary people can do extraordinary things if they are organized. Our basic purpose-reflected both in our own governance and the aspirations we have for the nation-is to make democracy work for everyone.

Our commitment to democracy comes from recognition of the moral equality of persons. People really are created equal, and their free deliberation is the best hope for achieving the blessings of liberty. The same recognition fuels our commitment to fairness in social life. Such moral irrelevancies as race, gender, age, country of origin or inheritance continue to determine too much of one's life chances, and this undermines the very idea of a democratic society.

We are saddened and outraged by the present corruption of our public institutions; the deliberate weakening of unions and other popular democratic organizations; the stupid and cruel economic policies that are destroying our cities and communities, increasing inequality, lowering living standards, and wrecking the earth; the special burdens this society still places on women, people of color, and children; the violence it can inflict on the rest of the world.

To promote a rebirth of freedom, equality and prosperity, we dedicate ourselves to the following:

* Full public financing of elections, universal voter registration, proportional representation, free party competition.

* The establishment, defense, and facilitation of worker, consumer, shareholder, and taxpayer rights to democratic self-organization.

* The creation of a sustainable economy based on the responsible and reverent use of our earth's resources-taking no more than we need, replacing and reusing all that we can.

* A society in which we all take seriously our responsibilities as parents, workers and citizens.

* The democratization of our banking and financial system-including popular election of those charged with public stewardship of our banking system, worker-owner control over their pension assets, community-controlled alternative financial institutions.

* A Bill of Rights for America's Children, guaranteeing true equality of opportunity, providing equal education for all students, and achieving an adequate standard of health care, nutrition, housing, and safety.

* Community-control and equitable funding of our schools, within which we seek true excellence in public education along with equal opportunity to achieve it.

* Full employment, a shorter work week, and a guaranteed minimum income for all adults; a universal "social wage" to include such basic benefits as health care, child care, vacation time, and lifelong access to education and training; a systematic phase-in of comparable worth and like programs to ensure gender equity.

* A progressive tax system based on the ability to pay.

Rebuilding our cities and metropolitan regions-the cornerstones of a high-wage and ecologically sustainable economy-through community-led programs of comprehensive, democratic, high-wage, and low-waste economic development.

* A community in which residents, neighborhood organizations, businesses, police and local officials work cooperatively as equal partners to provide a safe and secure environment in which to live and work and study.

* A reduction of national military spending to that necessary to the defense of the United States and an end to unilateral military interventions.

* Trade among nations consistent with mutual improvement in living standards, reduced cross-national inequalities, and sustainable development.

* In all aspects of our economy and social life, an absolute bar to discrimination based on race, gender, age, country of origin, and sexual orientation, and absolute security in reproductive rights, fundamental liberties, and privacy.

These are our principles. It will take time and experience to work out the details of sound policies and procedures based upon them, but there is no better time to start than the present. We believe that if we enunciate our principles clearly and firmly, with honesty and no double talk, the New Party will set a new standard for political behavior, and be worthy of the people of these United States.

Should an 18 year old earn as much as a 50 year old with 30 years of experiences?

Should a 50 year old, who changes careers, make as much as a 50 year old with 30 years of experience?

Should a single guy make as much as a guy with 3 kids?

How much should the guy who works the counter at a convenience store make?

What if a guy just opened the convenience store, and is the only employee. Should the government guarantee (through the earned income credit?) that he (the owner) makes a living wage?

What if that business owner works 12 hours a day, should he make more? Should he earn "overtime"?

We live in a capitalist society. People excel because they have incentive to excel. It is Radical to destroy what makes this country great by fighting to change us into a socialist or communist society.

Tell you what: Let us remain the last bastion for capitalism, and people who don't like it can move to socialist and communist countries.

Not only that, I thought the same thing when McCain chose Sara Palin as his running mate.
