If you can't bring sparkling jewelry, bring something else pretty and soothing lol. Ask what her favorite drink is. I would love wine, but I get sick. A good wine is nice, but always best to ask what kind she likes in case she's a wine snob.

I invited someone over for civvy date once, and he insulted the wine I bought. I did not have sex with him lol! Huge turn off.

It's small and discreet so you can have it in your pocket.

You can find nice things for around $100 if you look in the right places.  Try gem shops or antique stores.  Stay away from the mall jewelers like Kays.

It last forever, and she'll think of you when ever she sees the piece.

... But we went shopping together before dinner and I knew she would like it.  I liked it too, as we got some exotic jars of creams and lotions from lands far far away, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy her sharing - there's a lot to be said for spending he better part of the night as both the slatererer and the slatheree    

Knowing what she likes is 99% of getting it right.  If you are so inclined to get something, websites and 411 give pretty good 'hints'

Assuming you have a passion or she does. If she raises zebras, for instance, you might consider a book on zebras.
