TER General Board

I was in DC last week for the M&G, and had no trouble accessing TER from my hotel...

Either on my laptop, or tablet.  Sorry to hear you had issues, but you are affirming my choice of hotel, which is in a rather nice area of DC.  I've had providers visit there as well...no problems.

I've made 3 little trips to DC during the last few weeks .  One trip found me staying at a Kimpton property downtown and the others had me in two different Marriotts on the Va side. The Kimpton and one of the Marriotts blocked TER.
Interstingly no other adult site I tried was blocked. Only TER.

Both of the areas where the restriction was imposed are known to be destination points for touring ladies. So this has me thinking , the hotels really don't oppose its guest looking at adult sites but perhaps they feel blocking TER will discourage Providers from staying at their hotel.

Fortunately I already had my evening entertainment scheuled with local faves willing to provide outcall , but still....

At any rate I will avoid those hotels in the future as I resent the imposed restriction of what I would consider basic freedoms

simply use the "hot spot" on your cell phone to access the internet and not the hotel wifi.

but I do agree about patronizing hotels, or any other business that tries to make moral judgments for me. I resent the morality police as well, and I try not to patronize them if I have any choice in the matter. I will confess, I do fly American Airlines which blocks TER quite a bit, but it Delta, who does not block TER, flies the same route I will try to fly with them instead.

The hotel is making a financial judgment based on their best interests, capital.

Business does not make decisions based on what their guests like or dislike.

you are putting me in a VERY awkward situation by agreeing with Vern here. lol. At least with his first sentence.

They are not making a decision for you, they are making the decision for their financial bottom line and/or to cut down any illegal activity on their premises. Now, I don't think it will affect the latter, but some legal beagle proly chirped in their ear.

The same hotel that blocks TER proly has 200 porno flicks available to rent so I don't think this has anything to do with morality.

But how he can make a cogent point in sentence number one and then totally undermine his point in sentence number two is...well...what is keeping him in the running at least for a SPOTY. lo

But please, please, please don't put me in this position again. roflmao

The first sentence made sense, but he followed it up with that second sentence which was truly TSTTT. I just couldn't bring myself to even discuss sentence number two, hence my TSTTT comment on the whole thing.

Does that make your position a bit more tenable?

Obviously hotels care about their guest, otherwise they would not be in the hospitality business.

My comment about morality, was more about legality. Which should have been GaGambler's talking point.

I have come to the consensus that GaGambler, likes to confuse morality with legality.

My main objection to GaGambler's post was just that.

Jack, the 200 porno flicks are legal to view in the privacy of one's hotel room.

All websites should be permissible to view in hotel rooms. All websites shall be permissible to view in hotel rooms, provided one uses their own property to facilitate the WIFI connection.

This boils down to censorship on private property.

Marriott hotel chain is owned by the family of the same name who are religious Mormons.  For many years they would not permit pay-per-view porn in their hotels, and their blocking of porn sites is consistent with that. So, no, dimwit, it's not a "financial judgment" as you assumed.  It's a moral judgment that actually goes against their best financial interests.
Now, Johny, here's a sure-fire way to be able to tell your ass from a hole in the ground: Insert your arm into the hole.  If you can walk away, it's the former not the latter.
You're welcome

I'm assuming they do, since you said for years they did not.

The discussion was about site blocking not pay-per-view porn.

And, yes, I know the discussion was about site blocking but it was escort and porn sites you blithering idiot. Don't you see there's a connection?  They started out not offering porn like most other hotel chains because of their religious beliefs.  So it's natural to assume their blocking of hooker sites is based on morality as well.  Now do you see what I meant?
No doubt it was obvious to all other readers but you.
Now go and play with your little buddy

Why are they encouraging that their guests pay gratuities to the house keeping staff, whom are mostly women?

Does tipping women sound like something religious people would encourage?

My God you really ARE TSTTT.

Being a liberal you'd say "Marriott should be paying a living wage, because it's the MORAL thing to do."

Then I say - Well, there you go Marriott isn't making business decisions based on morality

try to be able to write a comprehensible sentence for yourself.  As soon as you do I'll get you some of them French fried taters you love

Look, this is what happens when guys try to not be offensive.

Had I simply said Marriott doesn't give a fuck about what GaGambler thinks. He would have understood what I was saying

would rather pay their house keeping staff lower wages and have the guests pay the tips.  Duh?

if I was the one meeting you and say I am a heaux who does not blur my face, I would think that by visiting my website or TER with my info and face would be unsafe for you and I. Especially, viewing the day or hour(s) prior to my arrival.

I have always made it a point NEVER to log on TER, my website or ads etc on any hotel wifi. I do know of a chick who was escorted out, luckily not arrested because the hotel, a marriott chain, printed her TER profile, along with website, knocked on her door, asked her to leave in 5 minutes or they would call police.  They said, "we saw activity on these sites and one of our staff recognized someone checked in that looked just like you", all the while holding her sexy ass (pun intended) pix in her face. Needless, to say she bolted!

I have heard of similar situations, nothing concrete except that instance but enough to avoid such risk. So I would simply advise to refrain from visiting sites if you are having company over or if one is a provider not to log on anything like that while using your hotel's wifi.

Use your cell phone's wifi. Be safe and have a lot of fun!

Online search reveals thousands of services.  Even a drunk can stumble upon a good proxy. ;)

I use a dedicated VPN on top of tor since Tor is known to have vulnerabilities and isn't safe on its own. I'd avoid the free ones unless you enjoy pulling out your teeth and pubic hair in frustration. Free VPN are generally too slow and not very secure either.

It's less than 9 a month. Paid VPN are much much faster with no data limit and the protocols are encrypted in a way that doesn't look like it's a VPN / proxy traffic so airports airlines or hotels CAN'T block much of anything if at all.

You surf any site you feel like surfing without annoyance of these hotels acting as your baby sitter.

You can pay with prepaid or bit coins or mail in cash or money order.  Life is good...  And anonymous.

Yes, tunnels are the best way to go.  Secure ones are very good and the person providing the bandwidth cant do diddly.

I thought you left to pursue a civvie relationship. lol

Still pushing those bit coins I see.

Oh yeah....we've beaten that one to death already  LOL

Do you think Zabrina would accept them?

On your knees and you insolent pig...and send her your bitcoin and PayPal info....and do it now  ;)

As for Zabrina, I haven't heard a peep out of her. Do you think Admin broke out the BanHammer?

hadn't received those proceeds from you on the over/under....hmmm

Zabrina's page is still showing as active.  I suspect her posting privileges are at least moderated if allowed at all.

Maybe TER is sick of these wacko hookers using the boards as blog material?  All that shit should have stayed up...and frankly it would be nice if it was also moved to the top of the page to remind those who don't follow here just what some of these BSC whack jobs are up to.

But I also get why they needed to delete her insane drivel.

but I certainly understand why Admin pulled it.

Good thing is that we have long memories here on TER, and even if years pass before she advertises here again, at least some of us will still be here to warn the community.

I'm doubting I'm still in TER top posters list though.

My top poster position has likely been relinquished to another poster,  it's OK though.  It's not the end of the world despite being sad that I lost the prestigious position of being a top poster.  :)

Who are some of the latest SPOTY candidates? How's my moron doing compared to your moron?

Looks like there's also a 3rd and 4th moron that are runner ups. It's actually amazing how there are no shortage of SPOTY candidates lol lol

Considering I have noticed a "TSTTT" response right below my moron's handle,  I'm guessing he hasn't let me down yet. roflmao :D

I do have to admit that they are in the lead based mainly on volume. We have a few newcomers like Hadji, bigdumbass, not to FIDIOT, last years frontrunner until he broke down about twenty lengths from the finish and handed the title to my moron.

Yes, it is still a wide open race, too close to call at this point

with using a proxy is you don't know who's running it. You're giving up your login credentials.

I wouldn't use TOR unless the entire image/OS is TOR'd i.e. don't use the browser instantiations.

You can run your own proxy in the AWS cloud for minimal cost, combined with obfuscation provided by a TOR'd image I find this provides me with a reasonable level of security, at least for purposes of surfing a fuck board.

How many people know how to set up a VPN on aws? Lol

Advantage of using a VPN that specializes in VPN: you can switch origination ip any time.

You can dump them and switch anytime.

You don't have to give them your real info either. I guess with aws you can pay anonymously too.

Seems more complicated for the minimal cost savings.

client_number_9938 reads

I suggested AWS because of the flexibility. If I want to run full captures, I can do it. If I want to do signature matching I can do that too. If I want to next hop traffic into a Russian carrier or run a honeypot... Yep, you guessed it, I can do that too.  Anonymonity is something to be concerned about, but the AWS cloud is like the Wild West, I'm just a needle in a field full of haystacks.

You should check it out, it's a lot of capability for ~50 bucks a month.

I see your point though it's very flexible and cheap for hobby purposes.

I'm not hobbying at the moment so it's a bit more work than I want but might take the time to set up a VPN later.

I am traveling now and in a hotel and have not had an issue. I usually don't jump online while flying so not sure on those restrictions. When I am home in DC, I use my home PC on a secure network. The ladies that I know that frequent DC do not use the hotel login via laptop or the business center computers; they just use their cell phones. I wouldn't trust the hotel Wi-Fi anyway, they have the right to restrict what they want- kinda like trying to log on to porn in the work computer.

Mobile hotspot works, but depending on the provider will eat your data alot faster than normal phone surfing unless you have unlimited data, at which point it works great.  ;-)

One of the reasons I do is that some hotels like to impose their integrity on their guests. Mainly though, is that when you have 200 people on the same WiFi connection it seems to slow it down. I hear that some airlines are restricting TER, and perhaps rightfully so. While I would never open a ladies page when surfing TER on a plane or in the airport gate, I suspect not everyone would excersize the same restraint, I wouldn't want a child exposed to the photos. I don't like others to impose themselves on me, so I don't impose myself on others.

One of the many things I love about TER is that I can read reviews, participate on the fuck boards and research my next encounter while sitting next to anybody in an airport gate.

that saves me a bundle on the $15/day hotels charge for their WiFi.

This way I don't have to worry about censorship, though I don't recall ever having a problem with the hotels I stay at, which are usually a Marriott.

Many airports however do block TER and most adult sites.  I can't say that I blame them with kids and such all about the place.

I tried using the hot spot setting on my phone, but it worked on a very spotty basis.  The Verizon store where I got it from said it was a bad idea to use it for more than an hour at a time as it could overheat the phone and destroy it, which is why I got the other hot spot device from them.  It drops out now and then but otherwise has been fine.

And no worries about hotel WiFi!

xoxo,

Steph

You can teach upcoming sex workers the importance of having a hotspot or your own muxes that are independent of the hotels.  Also next semester you can also add how to spoof certain IP addresses so that you can also go undetected.  These are just some of the offerings you can have at your new Sex Industry Academy of America.

Don't forget the use of foreign email services. The big, free email sites in the US have a dismal record of protecting customer's privacy. I see Gmail and Yahoo far too frequently used by providers. Encrypted email that's on servers in Europe is almost impossible to get to by Uncle Sammy. $35 a year for 5 email addresses is worth every cent.
