Sorry if this is a really ignorant question, and I'm sure some of you kind souls will admonish me appropriately..... Are the legal Nevada brothel prices as sky high as rumored? And if so, my burning question is WHY? What market forces would drive them high where risk is removed from the equation? Is it because of taxes? Or what?
I went with a client to the Chicken Ranch. The lady we chose asked for $4500 for 1 hour 1 pop. We said "no thanks" and drove back to Las Vegas. She was asking more than I was getting for the entire 24 hours with him.
probably taxes and the fact that the house takes a pretty big cut i think. they are a rip off either way tho. also i'm pretty sure you can't even get a BBBJ. very lame.
The Nevada brothels suck. They are a ripoff, plus they're full of mean-spirited people who just aren't fun to do business with. I've read articles that they are doing pretty poorly, mainly due to independent escorts and agencies advertising on the internet on sites like this one. I hope that the decline continues for the Nevada brothels.
If you have the ONLY legal place within 3,000 miles to buy sex, then it's a fairly good bet you're going to charge as much as the market will bear. There are customers who require that legal stamp of approval for playtime. Also doesn't hurt they're a landmark and a tourist destination for folks who are in Las Vegas and saw the TV show or remember the stories about the place.
Supply-side pricing absolutely loves a government secured monopoly.
Although I do essentially agree with the rest of your post.
Half the fee goes to the house.
Then she must rent the room at the brothel
Then she must cover laundry this is about $50 a day.
Then you got the license that can be up there.
Then you have the weekly STD tests
Then she has to cover her supplies.
Then the brothel bill them for the food.
Then you must remember they're considered self employed so they get zero benefits.

Here is a good example from another industry. 30+ years ago domestic long distance phone calls were around 25 cents a minute. One company, with a few small competitors, had a virtual monopoly.
Today hardly anyone pays directly for long distance calls. The cost is bundled in your monthly rate for cell service. The under lying cost to the cell company is less than half a cent a minute. More competitors and technology changes drove the reductions.
If it's ever legalized, ladies make less, we pay more, and government and oligarchs pocket the rest...and it becomes antiseptic. Decriminalized, yes. Legalized? No fucking thanks.
One can hope I guess.

Poor, third world nations naturally have women willing to fuck for next to nothing by American standards, but other developed countries have a thriving market for indies and upscale agencies that charge roughly what we pay here in the US.
I wish people would quit using Nevada as a template for how legalized prostitution would work in this country, it's honestly the worst run system any where in the world that I can think of.
why should we expect it to work differently than in Nevada? Sure, maybe if it was legal everywhere you have the potential for market forces to work but I think that only happens if it's decriminalized. If made legal it would be highly regulated and we'd need a new acronym, the CHJ. In fact under a legalized regime I think the current trade would still flourish for those (like me) looking for a more intimate, discreet experience...I'd never risk being seen walking into the known, legal brothel down the street. But I'm just opining, I'm not an attorney nor do I have any specific expertise in this area.

You should realize that in general there is far more regulation in Europe (if you can see that as one entity) than in the US. Government is quite a bit bigger here than in the US, and still the regulation hasn't caused prices to go overboard. Quite the opposite actually.
Prices in Belgium, Holland, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic are fairly similar. Germany has the most really cheap options, but in all these places you can get basic BJ and sex for around 50 dollars and I just mentioned the places I've been to myself, so I know for sure. I personally prefer Germany for mongering, but the reasons are not really relevant for this discussion.
Legalisation just makes it far easier to get providers and clients in contact with each other, so there is no need for all this stuff with references. It saves time and money.
And a nagging feeling that once the government gets involved sex will be about as much fun as a trip to the DMV
I've been to at least a couple of dozen countries where it's legal and have been very pleased about how it's run in most of those countries. There is no reason it can't be brought into the light here as well. If any one really cares about the crime of "real" human trafficking they will finally realize that the best way of fighting it is to bring it out into the open, then the cockroaches who commit these crimes will have nowhere to hide.
it's like the "war on drugs," politicians want "wars" not solutions. Wars keep on giving headlines, solutions only give one. Legalize drugs and they'll have to start tackling real problems; we can't be having that. I'm not worried about legal brothels on Main St. in my lifetime.
Zoning laws are a quite adequate way to deal with those types of problems. Actually in many countries where incall prostitution is allowed, no signs of any kind are even allowed. If you don't know the place is a whorehouse, you could walk by it a thousand times and never realize what's going on inside.
Anyone who has watched the HBO series Cathouse should have a pretty good idea of the price point at which an LPIN may start the negotiation process. Like him or not, Dennis Hof is one brilliant businessman who has conditioned potential customers via this documentary series as to how much to expect a brothel visit to cost. In my experience some LPIN, but not all, will throw a ridiculous dollar amount at the customer, because some will bite. From experience I can tell you that you can have a brothel party for a donation similar to a Las Vegas Indy rate. Cut to the bottom line with the negotiation process and be honest with the LPIN as to what your budget is, taking into consideration that part of the donation is going to the house. If she's unwilling, there are others that you saw in the line up that will work with your budget. Return to the lounge, have a drink, and they will come to you. There are also some Nevada brothels that have very competitive fixed donations which are clearly advertised on their websites.
That their business is suffering so they need to charge more to make up for the lack of business.
And I would typically double my standard rate because the house takes half and the you have to pay for travel expenses and board.
