Does burner app, that you can download from Google Play Store accept prepaid cards that you can pay using cash at a store. Right now I have my Credit Card, under my real name in Google Wallet.

So went out with couple of friends last night for some food and drinks and had burner phone on me along with regular phone, as I was waiting for a provider to get back to me about our meeting this morning. Must have dropped the burner on way back to car.. Went out looking for it only to find it being flatlined - most likely by a car.. Needless to say, she won't see me now w/o me having a phone on me - which, BTW, I completely understand.

Just thinking out of box here...

Thoughts?

It's pretty good. Just have to remember to turn on Do Not Disturb when you go home to the wifey if you're married.

It forwards the call to your real phone and you can call from the app, and your real phone number will not show up. It's free. You can text with it and set up voicemail on it. Everything gets saved to your gmail.

I use non gmail hobby email. It would require a gmail account for that to work. I do have a personal gmail account, but using that defeats the purpose of staying anonymous.

Also it transcribes all your voicemails into text, at least that's how it was in 2013. That's true for people calling your real # directly. So if my real phone # is 202-000-1000 and hobby # is 202-000-1001, and people call my direct # (say friends and family), it would still transcribe those VM into text mode. It's of zero value for me, as some of the voicemails I get are not in English, but a foreign language.

1) set up a new non-personal gmail account.  For free.  And only use it for GV.
2) change your settings so that google voice isn't used as your voicemail for your personal phone also.  It's optional.  And has been since before 2013.  You might not have noticed.  Go into your settings in the GV app to change it.

Just so you know you have options.  :)

Did she even read the privacy policy for both of those services? Hushed still collect data and will release on court order.
Worse, hushed is LINKED to her private number, credit card, etc. It's amazing how some people so confused yet speak their false assumptions the loudest. :S

First of all I am a dude, not a gal.

Secondly, where did I say I use hush? I currently use only burner phone, which got destroyed yesterday. I didn't even know hush existed until today.

it has two things in common, originating party and a receiving party. That’s all you need to find out anything about anyone. What is keeping you anonymous is not your intelligence. Your obscurity comes from two thing; (1) no one is interested in finding anything sabot you, and you are one among millions.

Moral of the story is, there are electronic signatures in everything you do using technology and the signatures can be traced pretty easy.

If you want to be anonymous, stay under the radar and realize the fact that all of these social networks, free email, and other freebies are “monetizing” you. Monetizing the masses is the biggest business trend today because, it is cheap to start.

Download "Hushed" http://hushed.com/. It's a little pricey but it's the best alternative out there.

Thanks!

The prices are fine. The burner phone, a physical one, costs more to keep. LOL. So the price is no biggie.

Do you know how you pay for it? I am assuming through Google Wallet if you are on Android.

I may have to reach out to their Customer Service dept.

1 year for $30, more voice, text & MMS than most need. Invisible, password-protected, encrypted, anonymous.

Great for privacy and anonymity for the most part, but not nearly as untraceable for LE purposes as you can manage for a burner phone.

Depends upon your level of paranoia.

I transitioned from Google Voice to Hushed early on.  Happy with Hushed!  The only problem is the text messages are a strict 160 character limit.

pro...guaranteed to work, use prepaid cards with it, surf the net
con...if you forget it somewhere, where will you hide it, charge it and not accidentally use it for personal emergencies.

Probably a very stupid question, but don't apps like Hushed and Google Voice show up as an icon on my phone?  Is there a way to hide it so no one can see it?  If my wife sees the icon for something like Hushed, I'd have a hard time explaining why I have it....

Thanks!
