Just a small correction... The LI, NY thing was Nassau County, on LI, not Suffolk.  I haven't heard nor read of any larger than normal LE activity in Suffolk.  So its not all of LI, just the western half.

With voters being more open by legalizing marijuana for recreational use, is there any chance our hobby will follow suit? If not, what will it take?

the respective money must become closely regulated and efficiently taxed.

Despite it being as benign as it is Cannabis is a threat to the taxable commerce formula because one can grow it anywhere including an apartment building window box. One good sized 'outdoor' grown plant can yield as much as 3 pounds of Marijuana. With the number of homes, condos and apartments housing folks with "green thumbs" there is little impetus for BIG Pharma, alcohol, tobacco or other businesses to allow its full legalization.

Until 'Cash' is made totally obsolete nearly any person born with genitals can earn a comfortable primary or sizable secondary income and never need report a penny of it. If "Cash" is ever done away with totally I think you'll see prostitution soon after legalized.

Government actually cares very little about your safety, your health, or your moral compass. Government does however adamantly care about money changing hands and not getting a percentage of it.

Through the enforcement of law, along with desire to generate revenue.

Neither element could exist with out a physical currency.

Legalization will never happen... if their is no money there will be no business.

All the puritanical Bible thumping fakes will be dead by then. Dictating sexual behavior and morality has been used by organized Abrahamic religious cults for centuries to control their flock. If they give up that control, then will not able to control their flock.

God needs another $100 from you to save your soul, give generously.

if the government legalizes this sport, they will regulate it and tax it.  The market will be distorted, and quality will be reduced.  Costs to the consumer will go up and be at government behest while quality will likely go down...

I would support some sort of de-criminalization but the last thing you want in a perfectly good marketplace is the introduction of government regulation and control....

and while the Nevada brothels are a horrible example of how to run legal prostitution, it's not like the brothels have ruined the hobby in Nevada. There are still many independents and agencies in Nevada to fill the demand that the legal brothels do a VERY poor job in filling.

How much more control can government exert above and beyond what they do now? Right now it is completely illegal and taxpayer resources are being wasted trying to put people like you and me in jail, even under the worst possible legalization/regulation/taxation scenario, it would still be better that what we have now. The "black market" will always exist if they fuck it up.

it is destroying natural market forces and generally fucking up anything it gets its hands on

I can see it now - penalties for giving a BBBJ or allowing DATY will be more heinous than being caught as a provider or hobbyists is now -  and they will be sending in undercover inspectors as well....

and since they will be collecting taxes on and controlling the 'legalized' market, they will go after any black market much harder....

also there are many overseas markets where prostitution is legal but where the scene is very dismal as well....

The concept will remain illegal. Can America exist as anything other than a TPS? I think not.

It's not the concept that's illegal, Einstein.  It's P4P itself that's illegal.  The concept of legalization or decriminalization can't be legal or illegal.
Tell us, what's it like to live in The Twilight Zone?

Remember when the only legal gambling outside of Vegas was the church Bingo game?

Well, how about the hobby be legalized, but only inside of a church?

The church could take 10% off the top and just think how attendance will grow.

Sure, the pews are a bit hard on the back, but we can bring air mattresses and I can think of some excellent uses for the kneelers.

And besides, who else along with me shouts out "Oh God" over and over while coming?

We'd fit right in to the Amen corner.

Dibs on the confessional booth, by the way.

e can all be forgiven for our lustfulness

I have such a crush on mrfisher and rumor has it, he likes redheads! 'Course, I've also heard he captivated one of loveliest ever. Happy! Happy! Joy! Joy! Good stuff!

I would also like to re-iterate, I wanna be Rasha. Damn!  Just....well, you know

Over breakfast I was thinking about Mr. Fisher's proposal that perhaps legalization might follow in the path of church bingo. Then I started wondering how a lottery might work.

One really hot babe offers and overnight to the lucky winner in exchange for half the proceeds of the state lottery. If nobody wins, the next drawing bumps the prize up to two nights. And like that. I have no idea where the other half would go, but since it was MY idea, I think it would only be fair if some of it was funneled into MY pocket. Just a thought.

Sure, LE goes hard after UA and sex slaves as they should, but really, when people screen in our little corner of the world and the guys follow the rules re: seeing well reviewed girls with good reps, what are the odds of getting busted in that scenario?  1 in a 1000? 1 in 10,000? Maybe even higher than that?

That's not to say there isn't some hot spots around the county. LI, NY is one area that comes to mind but again, if people are careful and are aware of the hot spots and how LE goes about getting those busts it isn't all that difficult to avoid them.

The only issue is don't bring undue attention to oneself, be smart and screen/read reviews, a few other small things for further peace of mind and that will make the likelihood of a bust so infinitesimally small as to make it unworthy of the bandwidth I am using right now

However I say that is a far jump from saying you will never be prosecuted.

If you legalize it you take half the fun out of it. I order Cuban cigars from Switzerland.

I don't get a rise out of doing things that are illegal simply because those things may be illegal.

I really wish it would be decriminalized.  That means it's not a crime to have sex for money.  To Legalize it, means the gov. becomes my pimp.  I don't believe in having a pimp.  No one should profit off the sex I have but me and the person I'm having sex with.  And they profit by pure pleasure. ;)
