Verizon used internationally

I'm using a Samsung 4G (SCH-I545) that's unlocked and on a Verizon contract.  For $25 Samsung will activate international roaming on their SIM so you keep the same phone number when you travel.  Used it in Ireland and UK a few months back and service was sloooow, but it worked.  Data capped at 100MB and phone calls were outrageous.

Ended up installing a local pay-as-you-go SIM and local calls were free, international calls a tenth the price, and data was unlimited - cost 30 GBP for a month of that.  Phone number (includes chat/SMS) changed, but all the email setting remained the same.

Second trip this year I didn't even both telling Verizon where I was headed, just bought a local SIM after landing in London and was off & running.

Key is to have an unlocked phone that can handle the antenna frequencies for where you'll be travelling.  That's why I listed the model above, some phones don't have the right antennas.

My wife wants me to join her I-phone, AT&T cell phone plan. I have been on Verizon for years but these new plans allow you to combine several numbers and save money. Are my hobby days over or do you all have some suggestions?  A secrete hobby phone, pay as you go phone? Any ideas would be helpful......Thanks to all...

areas than any other cell company.  If you don't travel then this is not important but for those of us who do, it is the primary reason why I am with Verizon.

Except for the pay as you go hobby phone I use.  If you have a SO, a hobby phone or possibly burner app is the only way to go.

In regards to a burner phone or pay as you go phone.  Can you text and call anywhere.  I'll be in Mexico in September and need this type of service

Crock of shit. Verizon has shitty coverage in some areas as everyone else.

Pay as you go..

Please whatever you do when you discard the phone erase the numbers . Lol
I had a client throw his out the window with all of his "hobby" numbers aand someone picked it up and was pranking me for weeks.. He still had time on it..

My friend and I laughed about it now years later..
hope that helps

I am in a very similar boat my friend.  I have a crap burner phone I paid 10 bucks for at Walmart.  You can also buy cards for them in the store WITH CASH to avoid card charges showing up.  Keep it at work or someplace she never goes.  I.E. toolbox, breaker box in your car is a good one too.  I have mine duct taped on the top and inside my work desk.  Im paranoid dont judge me lol.  Pieca cake buddy.

Thanks all...I think I'm off to Wal Mart........

I'm thinking you might want to come up with an excuse to change numbers if you switch companies.

Do your "friends" ever call or text you uninvited?  Of course, you can always say it's some crackpot or random caller, but a new number separates you from that past.  \

THEN, transfer your current number to a burner phone to maintain continuity.  And never answer a blocked or unrecognized call as it might be your wife checking to see who got your old number!

Are my hobby days over.....
and you have seen providers in six states.

Your asking this question must indicate that you are now living in a retirement home

Hey, funny but not true...started young and still going strong..You probably couldn't keep up....

How the such you live like this?

Your wife and or GF goes through all your shit and cross examines you. What a fucking way to live?

Yeah it's rough way to live alright. However when I was pounding a pussy of a nubile post-teen girl less than half my age I would feel like it's all worth it! LOL.

Planning on doing the same Monday to celebrate labor day.
