"Since then, I have zero problems cumming in doggy."

I don't think you meant it the way it reads. ;)

I have always only been able to achieve climax and orgasm with my legs straight and thighs flexed.
As you can imagine it takes away from experiences that could have been had.
I have read that it is common for people to only achieve orgasm in a certain position.

Any tips or experiences with this?

thanks

It takes time... You can't expect an overnight fix.

But you essentially get yourself close in your favorite position but not let yourself cum. Then you switch to a second position and try it.  Over and over again...eventually, you'll get there.

Second option (which is how it happened for me), you come across a provider that's so amazing that you blow your load in the position you least expect to.  For me it was doggy. Since then, I have zero problems cumming in doggy.

Here's another. Simply tell the next provider you see that you have this problem and that you want to try being a couple different positions. As long as a position isn't physically uncomfortable for either of you, I'd bet most would be happy accommodating that kind of request.

This is the sort of stuff Kinsey studied in Sexual Behavior in the Human Male (1948) and subsequent works.  Actually, the only thing I remember at the moment is the observation that some men masturbate / climax with their toes bent and others with their toes unbent.  Imagine getting paid -- and paid by the US taxpayers! -- to study this stuff.   (Anybody want to start a thread on "Poll: are you a toes bent or toes unbent climaxer?")

to do pelvic floor exercises   (decidedly NOT "keagles" as those work the wrong area....)

those of the Yoga variety are most effective especially when done in bound angle position

everyone benefits sexually from strengthening pelvic floor muscles -  here in the west we spend tons of money on blue pills etc while in the east they typically recommend this regimen and it has been proven to be more efficacious - though it does take some time - weeks to months - to garner maximum benefits....

as far as the psychology of it,   the advice you've received elsewhere in this post is spot on but the physical reason for what you are experiencing probably has more to do with a typically soft pelvic floor (and perhaps habituation to masturbation in this position..... ?)

i just did some research and i think you nailed it for me. It seems like that i need to do so thanks.

One last thing, is the flexing/tensing of the pelvic muscle what is needed to achieve climax?

but yes  mostly pelvic floor muscles -  the cock itself has none....

when your pelvic floor muscles are strong you are able to achieve a harder erection - it's a great cure for ED actually -    and your orgasms are stronger and more long lasting

in performing pelvic floor exercise it is important to be able to isolate the pelvic floor muscles from the per-anal muscles.  If you are tightening your sphincter you are exercising the wrong muscles....

I am sure you will be able to find a number of resources on this topic online -

best of luck

ok thanks

I have a harder time cumming in different positions.  Of course I can climax in most all of them now,  but I have a much, much, (did I say much?) easier time on my back.

Sure I can cum sitting on your face, but it is so much easier when I'm on my back.  Same with doggy and cowgirl, yes I enjoy it, but toss me on my back for some Mish and I loose all control.

Sex feel great in all positions, but some just help you to reach climax better than others

One provider I see can only come if she's face down with me on top, her legs inside mine and she squeezes her legs together.  My cock is plenty long enough for other positions, but this one stimulates her g-spot best.  For medical reasons, her clitoral response is limited.  It's hell to monitor the condom, though, and her thighs tend to pull it off.
