Many are hobbyists who trade, or are are not real pro's. Using a photographer who is only seeing you to take pictures is a big difference. I have a man who is a professional photographer/videographer that is all business. To be honest everyone says get video & your business with jump this is not a fact ladies, so never believe what others tell you unless they are a real provider. To many providers believe the hype.
Badkitty was very helpful when I was considering doing photos.
I wasn't comfortable allowing them to take my pix so I asked if I could use their sets for a fee but bring my own photographer. It never happened but they were very helpful and happy to accommodate my concerns.
I do love photography, But as my work improves so does the process. i have made some videos and commercials. All i can say it was a lot of work. It is way more than snapping a few shots. Lighting and the "stage" are so important as well as the staff it takes to "produce" the work of art. I am not sure of what you have in mind for a video but I see at least 2 people cameraman and assistant plus the "actors" 1 or two people. You have multiple takes than can take a 1/2 a day or more. Most of the time is spent preparing for the shot! The the real work begins in POST with video editing adding music and scene transitions. For a real "professional" job it would cost in the thousands. How much an hr do you charge for your "service" Should an artist charge less
I actually have a you tube channel (non hobby related) and am pretty good at editing adding music ect using basic windows live movie maker..I also have knowledge of lighting and camera angles ect.. when it comes to filming. So Basically what I need is someone with a high quality video camera and portable lighting. I have decided I am going to do the editing and directing myself. So I would beed someone for 2 - 4 hours to shoot a few clips for me. SampleTaster you did mention a lot of good points about how "professional" involves a bunch of people,steps and equipment. I don't except this video to be as good as a bmw commercial hahah I am going for basic but still hot.I also will be paying cash and not looking to trade services.
