First off I have no idea what "Phising" is, but if you actually meant "Phishing" and are quoting US law, everyone here knows that P 411 is NOT based in the US.

Would you care to dig a deeper hole for yourself?

DA, I can actually smell the money already. lol

Hey Ladies. I rarely post on any board and although I am getting ready to retire, I am a little annoyed by something that happened on P411 and I was wondering if anyone else had this issue. I have been on P411 for at least 4 years and never had any majors problems. It was (and still is) an amazing site to verify guys on and I met a lot of amazing men off of there.

BUT, a couple of days ago I got an email saying that my account had been compromised (after it wouldn't let me log on) and that I would need to send a picture of my license (or state i.d. or passport), a picture of me holding my i.d. and then a photo of me holding my account details and that days date. I was a little rattled as I have heard rumors (I can tell you the rumors if you email me - I would prefer not to publish them publicly as I am not sure what the procedure is on that.) and I don't feel comfortable having my license or any other information out there in case something does happen in the future. I was wondering if any other providers have had this issue with P411 or if it is just me? (And yes, I know that the guys have to give THEIR information to P411, but I am not sure why I would need to send my license in if I haven't received any horrible reviews lately or anything along that line - to my knowledge, anyway.) Thanks!

Abby

Hello Abby,

I'm sure it was a spoofing email to get information from you - always log in directly to your account and never click on a link in an email when you don't know the sender.  If your account was hacked and someone was able to lock you out, I would recommend you contact P411 directly.  Change your passwords often ;)

Good luck

Do you get from there and what profit do you accumulate from it. If you getting ready to retire and its not generating a substantial income for you the I would let it go. You should also know that p411 is being investigated by the fbi is you want to send your info to them.

that they are being "investigated by the FBI"....     not saying you are wrong as I have no personal knowledge one way or the other....

GaGambler939 reads

that does not definitively preclude an FBI investigation, but P 411 is definitely not US based.

The long arm of the US law does stretch a LOT further than it once did. Just ask anyone with a Swiss bank account, with Panamanian holdings, or players in Latin American online casinos.

There is a validity to what Ivy babbled...however it's not like various LE isn't reading (perhaps participating as well) these boards as well.

From the gist of the email that the OP is asking about...sounds like a phishing trip.  I concur to contact Gina directly.

As well best to stay away from the obvious low hanging fruit sites...like BP

Why would you think they would have any information public?  Did the name "DomainsByProxy" not provide a huge clue as to what was going on there?

Most websites these days have private registration information.  It says nothing about where the company is or where the servers are hosted

He really IS that dense.

He claims to be tech savvy yet has absolutely no idea what services like WhoisGuard / Domainproxy are for.

ROFLMAO!!!!!!!

it is not illegal to contact be screened by or visit an "escort"  and it is not illegal to provide a social networking service to facilitate that.   And Canada is not usually very interested in the US investigating their nationals or anything on their soil....     but it is within the realm of remote possibility...   I am skeptical but will remain open to proof.....

GaGambler1031 reads

and while the Canadians might not be too keen on our feds investigating on THEIR soil, it is far from out of the realm of possibilities.

Keep in mind that P411 is not only a verification site, it is an ad site too boot, and although it's based in Canada, it's not like they can claim that they don't do business in the US. I am much less skeptical than you in this matter, but I am not going to jump out of a window this afternoon either. lol

GaGambler833 reads

If we were talking about "obtaining convictions" that would be quite a different matter.

The good news for P411 at least is that unless they have assets here in the US, "asset forfeiture" laws should hopefully not apply to a Canadian company. IMO asset forfeiture laws should be ruled unconstitutional at least to the extent that they are enforced without due process, effectively nullifying the entire "innocent until proven guilty" concept this country holds dear by stripping a defendant of his ability to mount an effective defense by bankrupting him before he has even had his day in court. George Orwell was not wrong, only early

should be a case by case matter decided in court and that any monies should go to victims - not the government....   it is a conflict of interest and results in many arrests where people are not even brought to trial because the case is too weak to stand up and yet assets are seized...   it is "legalized theft".....

GaGambler932 reads

The very concept of the LE agencies themselves getting the benefit of the property they seize is just such a huge conflict of interest IMO, that I have no idea how it could have possibly been passed into law. But by that same token I can't believe that we have both The Patriot Act and Obamacare passing constitutional muster either.

...Verify with them that there has been a problem. Their reputation is stellar as you noted but it pays to verify before handing out your info.

If your account was compromised they need you to prove you are the one to have access. I don't imagine it has anything to do with reviews.

Sounds like a standard Phishing scam to me.  I would verify with them something is wrong.  The best Phishing scams are the ones that seem so legit nobody thinks to double-check.  NEVER believe ANYTHING from an email or something of this nature.  Double check every time.  I wish you luck!

I thought they had posted something about that on their site and to watch out for it.  JUST call the information on their site or email them.

and I would NOT even consider doing any of the actions requested until having done so.

Good advice.  I'd take it.

I had also been s member for several years and a couple of months ago I was sent the same request. I didn't mind sending pics holding the date but there was no way I was sending a copy of my I.D. When I received the request I hadn't even seen anyone on the site for at least a week. Also, about a month later I received a request to verify a person I had seen so that he could be verified. I had no problem doing so but didn't really understand why they would ask me if the account was disabled. All very fishy.

I called the number on the P411 site and they said that I had to send everything in and that it was them that had sent the email and that the only way to open my account again was to send them all of the pictures of government issued i.d., et cetera. A little frustrating, but thank you all for the tips.

And I am not sure if I should get into some of what is going on, but yes, the FBI can get people based out of Canada. I will message anyone privately who would like more information on what I have heard. I don't like spreading rumors to the large masses without solid proof to show for it.

She's very helpful in the matter instead of posting on the GD board!!!

How do you directly contact Gina? I have tried all other methods for P411 - their online communication system, calling P411 and through email. I guess that I am stupid when it comes to finding out Gina's actual contact information.

Hope my post didn't come off mean, cuz I totally didn't mean to but I just sent u her email via TER pm.  Hope this helps.

a phising email with 99.9999% certainty. Easy way to find out is to go to the site and read their privacy policy. They have to disclose what information they will collect and what purpose they will use it for provided, they are based in the US. It is the law for anyone collecting private information of any kind.

Second, if there was an actual breach, they would asked you to change the password and there many ways to validate your identity.

You did the right thing, do not disclose any numbers to anyone you do not want to or need to.

It actually stands for "Stupidest Poster Of The Year"

AnnoyingFungus won the award last year, and he is well on his way to repeating.

GaGambler coined that term.

He's got his money on AnonymousFun

I have my money on JohnyComeAlready.

I've always had my money on him through all his handle variations and would've won the bet but GAG claims handle changes deduct points so I gotta start all over again every time the SPOTY candidate changes his handle. roflmao

The reason your account was secured is because we received some information that suggested you are involved in a very serious situation that could affect the security of the P411 network. Therefore you account has been shut down until we are able to determine that the correct person is accessing your account, and then whether the information we have is legitimate and/or serious enough to warrant ongoing concern.

The first step to working through the process is by sending in your identification. We request identification from providers on a regular basis, whether we are confirming that the provider is of age, or if there are other concerns (as in this case) as to just who is accessing the account, or if that person is the same person involved in a serious incident. I assure you that if LE or anyone else wants to know your real name, there are far easier ways for them to get it than trying to access our Canadian servers for it.

I can tell you the rumors if you email me - I would prefer not to publish them publicly as I am not sure what the procedure is on that.
That you've taken this as an opportunity to spread rumors about P411, only shows me that we are no longer interested in having you on the site. My email is gina at preferred411.com, it is very easy to get in touch with me directly if you really wish to.

For anyone who is interested in links to the very recent situation that Miss Abby has been linked to (not confirmed though!), please feel free to contact me directly and I'll be happy to share. Then you can determine for yourself whether her account should have been shut down, or not. I don't know if the information is true in this case, but I prefer to be safe rather than sorry.... and a person's reaction always speaks volumes to me. ;)

Always,
Gina
