I agree on the feel and enjoyment of the FC. For you high volume humpers, you can get them for 1$ each. Check out Condom Jungle. All you have to do is by 1000 of them 8>)

Hey guys & gals -- take a look at this report:

http://www.amfar.org/uploadedfiles/in_the_community/publications/condombrief.pdf

It says that female condoms are significantly more effective at preventing HIV transmission than male condoms. It says that male condoms are 80-95% effective (so you could say 87.5%, the midpoint), while female condoms are 94-97% effective (so say 95.5%, the midpoint). That means that if the chance of transmitting HIV was 100% without a condom, it would be 4.5% with a female condom and 12.5% with a male condom.

That's a pretty big difference, so why don't more girls use female condoms?
- they don't know?
- it's more expensive?
- it's less available?

I've also been with women that use female condoms, and it feels a lot better for the guy. Guys, did you have the same experience? And girls, what's better for you?

JBJ

for if you read studies on unprotected sex including gay anal sex where one partner has HIV the odds of transmission are far lower then you would believe -    it is just that the result is so significant if it is transmitted -    so there is no such thing as a 100% likelihood of transmission...  for *unprotected anal sex* with an infected top,  the rate of transmission has been established in the area of 1.4%.....

when you create such a defective baseline,  your statistic or graph will necessarily be distorted out of all reality....

beyond that, female condoms absolutely suck.   I hate the damned things.  And given a correct baseline to use in your comparison the effective difference between them in protection is miniscule...

but the rest of your post I agree with 100%. When you start with a flawed foundation, everything built on that foundation will be exponentially flawed as well.

If the numbers that the OP claims were actually true, AIDS would have decimated the human race at a level exceeding the bubonic plague.

listen to GAG..this man knows his shit..

Markus,
I agree that sexual transmission probabilities are between .05% and 2% per instance of sex, varying by type of sexual encounter. (I was trying not to point that out, because it's good for the whole community if more people are scared about the transmission probability of HIV.)

But my logic is not flawed, if you read my original post carefully. I just wrote it as a hypothetical and scaled the numbers to make the point clear. I could have equivalently written: "If the chance of transmitting HIV was 1.00% without a condom, it would be 0.045% with a female condom and 0.125% with a male condom." I just scaled the numbers linearly to make them easier to comprehend. It's called indexing -- economists do it all the time when they set baselines like "1990 GDP = 100".

Note also, there is one almost surefire way of transmitting HIV, where the transmission probability is over 80% -- blood transfusion from an HIV positive person to an HIV negative person.

Another interesting point: The 2005 study that I quoted said that condoms are only 80-95% effective. I've seen more recent studies putting the number at the 80% end of that range. If that's the case, then having protected sex 5 times exposes you as much as having unprotected sex once. If that's true, then protected sex is far more risky than I expected, compared to unprotected sex.

JB

and its use by economists to be akin to "statistics' - in that it belongs in there with "lies and damned lies...."

but I'm not here to pick a fight -   though I am a trained scientist I am not a pure mathematician.....

Cheers -

You might as well start off with the answer that you want to arrive at and back calculate the numbers. If you have any experience in financial matters, you should already know that people do that kind of "math" all the time. Indexing is just another word for manipulating numbers to make them tell the story you want them to tell, and it makes the conclusions completely worthless to anyone but the person making the pitch for a certain POV.

Both your logic and your methodology are deeply flawed, and because of this, so are your conclusions. GIGO

You're not allowed to be scientific about HIV around here, I mean

WHY DID YOU JUST TELL EVERYONE TO BAREBACK BOTTOM FOR MEN WITH AIDS?!?!? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!?

Sorry, just wanted to see how that side felt for once. ;)

...two otherwise equal providers, I'll choose the one that offers FC2 every time.

They are more expensive and are very difficult to find OTC.  No major chains that I know of carry them.  Walgreen's is supposed to but they can't be found in the stores.

Providers don't want to pay $2-$3 per condom when they can get them for free at Planned Parenthood.  Very shortsighted if you ask me.

Some providers also complain about the way they look but I think they'd like the way the increased stack of Benjies would look on their dresser if they used them.

Providers: take the time to learn about FC2.  They're not difficult to insert and they give the guys a lot more pleasure.  They're worth the investment.

TER thinks the FC2 is important enough that it was recently added as a search criterion to find providers who use them.

I'm not sure that providers are too cheap to buy them.  When you spend a range of $50 (low) to $700+ (high) on a one hotel room for your client(s), an extra $40 for a months supply of protection is not a big expense.

Also, providers often buy condoms in bulk online.  I can't imagine a girl going to planned parenthood asking for 1000 free condoms.  I mean, seriously.

Then, you mentioned female condoms are easy to put it.  Have you ever put one in your p****?  Maybe I haven't used them enough but find them extremely hard to insert (properly) and they wind up getting all twisted up.  I would constantly worry that the thing was going to get pushed inside of me, defeating the purpose of the protection and totally distracting me from having pleasure.

BUT one thing that is good about them is that they apparently feel better to guys.  Plus, we start to feel compassion that you guys usually have to wear the damn things!!!

LOL....agreed. Although Planned Parenthood gives out free condoms, they only give a handful now (5-10) once a week, and they are generic brands that tear easily. Back in '05-'06, they use to give you a paper lunch bag full up to twice a week....but again, generic brands that would break & tear. I would much rather spend the $8/box on a reliable, brand-name box.

A freaking trick telling a hooker that inserting a FC is not difficult. Make a video just so we can see what you mean

Or maybe you could show me how you insert one in your vagina in person, maybe a Youtube vid so we can all see how easy it is.

So happy to be an unskilled hooker.

On the one hand, they do feel great. Problem is, it looks like there's Saran Wrap hanging out of her pussy. And that ain't sexy at all.

...the inner ring and applied the FC2 on me like a regular condom.  Worked fine and no Saran Wrap view.

All I care about is how they feel and I have to agree, they are the closest thing to "wearing nothing at all" that I have ever experienced. Much, much better than even the thinnest of male condoms.

you've never, ever looked down to watch your cock going in and out of her pussy?  I sure have and my guess is most guys do.  And believe me, seeing a fringe of Saran Wrap down there ain't a turn on.
As for BP's point, all I can say is I've had a FC used about half a dozen times, including once where she put it over my cock and mounted me (also another gal put it over a dildo and inserted it).  In every case, you could see a fringe of plastic.  In fact, if you can't see the outer edge of the FC, there's no way for you to know you're not bare-backing her.

I do have to agree that if you "didn't know" you "wouldn't know" lol

sorry, but if my dick is happy, I make peace with my eyes. I am not going to dwell on a fringe of wrap sticking out of her vajayjay.

If it bothers you that much, you could always stick with mish, or simply turn the lights down.  As for me, I am a fan, and I can certainly live with the visual.

If you go back and read my post, I think I said the FC feels great but I just didn't like the look.  To me, then, the FC is a "mixed bag" I can take or leave.  My preference would be for a really good condom like Crown or Skynz.

Removing that can result in the condom getting tangled, or breaking---providing no protection at all.

I think they look like ballon bottoms.
The first time I saw one in. I made a joke like it was a balloon.
I pulled on the sides, and made a squeak sound..
Like I was letting the air out..
She didn't like that.

They for sure solve sizing issues, in both directions.  I have adopted them for that.  So no slipping and no friction/tearing issues- possibly that helps.
But otherwise, I'm not a huge fan...  It's just...too..much...condom.

The second time I got to see Tobi she mentioned using them in an email. I wasn't going to argue with her since you know, getting to use them with Tobi is pretty fucking cool. When we used it I couldn't believe the difference it made, it made it feel like there wasn't anything between us. My vote is yes as long as there's some form of protection I could use either.

... pretty cool.  As for safety, tomorrow is not guaranteed to anyone so I'm not worried about the difference between male and female condoms in that way -- but female did feel a whole lot better.

Mostly for his comfort then for mine. Reg latex condoms dry me out too much. FC's don't leave a nasty taste either and it is easier to switch from oral to intercourse for him. Didn't know about the HIV prevention %, that's also helpful. I get my FC's from various clinics in DC, and yes they give me A LOT because no one else is in there requesting them. I can easily get 20 every 3-6 mths when I go to get routine tested. That's a lot more than I use! I have extras! LOL!

Thanks, but no, thanks! I guess I must be the only horny boy in town that does not like them. I tried them with three different ladies and hated it each time. First off, my dick pulls the damn thing out of her pussy. I can hear everybody tuning up to sing, "you have to make sure it's lubed properly"  and, "she has to have it inserted correctly". Gimme a break! As far as feel, I felt like I was fucking a well lubed Cinch Sak. And then there is the look. And yes, I like to look at the pussy at every available opportunity.

To each his own. Try them, and if you like them, more power to ya.
