and, by the way, he has always spoken well of you.

I was looking for data on when men/women are more likely to cheat and came across a study:

http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/fulfillment-any-age/201209/the-eight-reasons-people-cheat-their-partners

makes for mildly interesting reading. But the thing that struck me is how we (the public) fund research that consistently reaches obvious conclusions.

The #1 reason for cheating is "lack of sexual satisfaction". Really

YOU are the one scouring the internet for this kind of crap. I am sure it must have occurred to you at some point that if no one ever read this drivel, funding would dry up for it.

and your definition of "mildly entertaining" is obviously quite different than mine. I made it through about a paragraph. I'll put it to you this way, if they had to rely on me for funding, you'd never see another one of these insipid "studies", but there does seem to be a market for this kind of thing, and that market obviously includes you.

Let me ask you, just WHY were you looking for data on when men/women are more likely to cheat? and just what did you expect to find besides the obvious?

why? pure curiosity...

Was asking myself if men cheat when they are reaching their power years (40s) for instance...

Is that OK with you?

HL Menken had a very pithy quote about that.

Paraphrasing:

Before he is forty he hasn't the money, and after fifty he's just too damn old, but in his forties a man can rise to the height of villainy.

Having gone through all that, I can attest that it is the truth.

For example the study that found that soap doesn't work gave me pause.

But to be fair to those whimsical scientists, a lot of tacit understanding is erroneous. You won't see more of yourself by taking a few steps back from the bathroom mirror, but a lot of people keep trying to do that, and you don't really push on the right handlebar to turn your bicycle to the left, though that's how most people would describe the maneuver.

And nobody wants to compare orgasm to sneezing, even though the two bodily functions are similar.

Power is a generous word, as used, and reality is far too iffy to put stock in.
