How many provider use the barter system? Seams like a great way to get thing done IE breast implants, teeth veneered, plumbing, etc

I was an advertising photographer for 30 years, and mentioned that to a provider. She asked if I'd be interested in doing some photos for her website.

I considered it, but decided it wouldn't be a good idea. My day rate was as much as most providers, and I would probably be seen as trying to chew her price down.

I joined one of those barter exchanges, but then the problem was always that people wanted to hire me for these random jobs, then they would pay me in barter credit (which is taxable as if it were cash by the way), then you wind up with all this barter credit and you can't get anyone to accept it for anything that's worth buying anyway.  I stopped doing barter, things just function properly all around if you just deal with cash.  If you want to barter with someone directly, promises have to be made that won't be kept, etc, it turns into a whole pain in the ass, it is just better to use cash anyway as it keeps everybody honest, and people will always run to do whatever you want if you pay them in cash anyway.

My original ATF and I developed a friendship (which still endures) and I used to give her occasional help in her screening process.  One day she asked me, "How would you like to screen for free muff?"  Funny to hear a young woman say "muff" instead of pussy.
At first I said it wasn't fair to her because what I did was so easy and I could teach it to her.  She said she'd really prefer if I did it, so I agreed.
I didn't do the entire screening process but helped her check references in return for one free session per month.  Nice while it lasted.

Awarded a franchise to the dungbeetle  ;)

I was going to start a post for the exact same thing, to see if anyone still bartered. I would be a fan of it depending on what the situation was. Right now, I am considering a few guys for a barter relationship, the only problem is, the value of what I need from them is greater on my end and I would hate for feelings or jealousy on their part to get in the way of the services I am seeking.

Much easier for a cut and dry P4P situation, but whenever a guy accidently finds out what you do on the side, they are always "curious" and want a "sample." Sure, but paint three rooms in my house first and buy the paint. LOL!

Please do not take this the wrong way, but you nailed it. Few people today value others work as much as their own.

A top quality painter will cost you $.50 to mote than $1.00 per square foot of wall area, and more for windows and doors. But that includes all of their expenses, cleaning, patching, priming, painting and the final jobsite cleaning. all you have to do is hang pictures and rearrange furniture. The painter is lucky to clear two to three times minimum wage.

If a doctor or CPA get in the at their rate, well you can see where this goes. I will just keep mine to p4p. Everyone has a feel for what a dollar is worth to them. Someone else's, not so much.

Have fun, keep smiling.

I wouldn't do it. Just gets too complicated.

And never do it with someone in the civvy world because they a) don't understand discretion as we do, b) can want more or get attached to you and get jealous, and c) can use it against you IRL (blackmail, etc.). Then they know where you live.

I've heard many stories of how "professional" relationships between provider and client get all messed up (and resentment over a perceived sleight can build over months and even years). But I have also heard of some that go just fine, so I guess it's case by case. But for me, it's just not worth it.

I offered some tech services and got some extended time but I didn't ask for it or barter.  I don't charge a rate cuz I don't do it as a business. I restrict it to those who are close friends,  besides I make several times more as I've moved on to other more lucrative things.

To be honest I do not like to barter. As for bartering for breast implants and teeth done. I am picky where I get anything that has to do with my body done. If the Dr is the best of course I would but i find normally when there is a barter it is a scam

It might not always be that way but a rather earn the money a pick what I want to buy. I recently had a guy who tried to barter with a fake ring. He did not tell me he was going to barter. He made up a story of how he walked in on his girlfriend cheating. I should have known the sob story. He shows up with a ring and says he wants to barter with the ring or half price session. Also the gift card scams.

My advices to providers is they really have to know the client real good to do a barter. You also have to make sure your client value your time. A lot of men do not believe our time is worth money. So they might do half ass work. If you are a dentist or a Dr you do not need to barter. You can pay her for a long time and she decides what she spends her money on. Then everyone is happy.

Yes, but if I walk into an incall and she has a goat and 2 chickens in the bathroom I'm gonna have to leave.

I was once in some girl's apartment, she said her pet snake escaped from its enclosure and she had no idea where it was hiding.  That was the exact moment I got the hell out of there.

Have to be someone I really trusted to barter/exchange services...

Maybe I'll start putting "will fuck for tattoos" on my ads. :D

But I've had guys offer me computers and shit in exchange for dates. Umm no. Even in the event that it's not stolen property, my landlord doesn't take used laptops in lieu of rent.

He would get the motorcycle. I'm too old for you, but you could get the tats, and then fuck ChgoCPA. I could get my business taxes done by him for free.

In theory, everyone will be happy. (And I get fucked by the IRS) ;)

If you need something welded or your car worked on let me know

I'm currently having some small home repairs completed for trade.  Normally, I wouldn't consider it.  I've rarely have trades make me feel like I got a fair shake.

...  Because I want to.  One of the many reasons I'd probably have made a horrible provider. I never stop to think that my giving advice is really not that much different in terms of my time and expertise.  But then again I get to enjoy a lot of OTC time so maybe there's a tacit barter buried in our time together, or maybe we just like each other's company - either way I am more than happy for it to continue that way.

Pain in the ass. Trailer hitch, new fence, etc...
So I politely declined, but I did ponder over the idea.
So I guess it is possible for the right toy :)

Follow me on this.

My ex and her younger sister (who is hot) had a friend who in 2012 was having severe money problems. No place to even live. Ex-husband of ex-sister-in-law owned a couple of apartment buildings, one in a ratty part of town.

My ex and her sister were getting drunk, and wailing and weeping about the problem. I figured it would be more effective to loan the friend the money for rent. So I paid the ex-husband for six month's rent for the friend.

Unbeknownst to me, ex-sister-in-law had approached ex-husband and offered him a BJ a week if he would let the friend stay in one of the apartments, and would continue with the BJ's for as long as the friend stayed in the apartment.

As I see it, I paid the rent, and that BJ barter offer is now mine.

I'm ready, little sister. Unzip my pants.  ;)

i was offered a pair of christian louboutin's once and some botox for a bj once
