Sometimes the hotel's direct site has better prices than some of these discount sites. Like...

Sofitel is $331 a night on their site but it's like 10k a night (don't plan to be here just using it as an example) on Priceline.
I thought my eyes were playing tricks lol when I was just toying around with the September dates that I plan to visit to check prices.

Maybe something over Labor Day but I'm out of town until mid-September so I wouldn't know.  Is this in the Rittenhouse Square or Logan Circle areas?  That's always pricey to live and visit but there are ways to be in those neighborhoods affordably and traveling ladies with regulars always do well.  Plus I get a ton of reference requests, lol.  Message me directly if you need other suggestions, as there are options, even during holidays.  Good luck!

Best, Alex

Thanks Alex

Definitely appreciate you offering advise!!!  But that price is what I found on Priceline for one of the 5star hotels but still the 4 starts are in the 3-400 range, last time I visited which was couple years ago or more I stayed in center city for way cheaper then that at 4 stars... I'll message you tomorrow!!!

Thanks again!!!
It's greatly appreciated!!

That the hotel prices are $899? I'm stunned!!!
Those prices were true a few weeks ago when the Democratic convention was in town, but not now.

I just checked two hotel booking sites looking for a single night tomorrow and although the rates are higher than unusual (probably because of vacationing tourists)  three and four stars properties ranged from $190 to $370, with most in the mid- $200 range, which included one of the new four stars at $240, which is a real deal.

If you are booking some time in the future and are seeing those rates, go the Philadelphia Tourist Bureau and Convention sites to see if there are any big events scheduled for your desired time slot

( A little off subject but along the lines of Philly area)

Philadelphia is always on the top list when it comes to " money making cities" and high employment rate in any article.  Hotels are always high, flights are always high yet when I look at the boards I see guys saying Philly is a low priced area and girls who are in the 200 -300 range will survive and others will not. It's hard to believe that ladies over 500 can not survive here especially since "everything else" is high. A round trip here is insane especially to the downtown area, it reminds me of a mini New York and it looks like this every time I book for Philly so it's not just this time. Pretty soon I will be venturing out to Central PA more in the Lancaster/Reading area.

Still not sure how Philly works.

And for 5-stars the Ritzz-Carlton was $320 and the Rittenhouse was $290. At four stars, there were a slew from $150ish to $250ish; including the Monaco, Palomar, etc..

I'd follow Klewedin's suggestion to check for special tourist/sports, etc... events that might drive room availability down and rates up on the dates you are looking at to visit.

Last year, I booked the weekend of the annual Army/Navy game and it cost me like 3x normal rates. For example, the Ritz is already at almost $500 and the Rittenhouse is nearly $800 for that weekend this year. I'm sure the other hotels will follow suit as rooms begin to book.

Just checked pricing for Thursday thru the weekend & wow what a difference, guess ill venture downtown those days!!!

Can't wait to dance at my fav gay bar in Philly & eat some yummy gummy bears from reading terminal!!! Woo whoo life's good!!!

For a while I've realized the hotel rates on Thursday and Friday's are much cheaper than earlier in the week. Would the gay club your speaking of be on South 13th street?

If not, PM me if you're interested the one I'm talking about. Trust me you will love this place.

Hotels, especially the big chains, aren't happy giving commissions to outside bookers. You almost always find the same rate or lower rates on a hotel's own reservation site. If they don't have to pay a commission they can afford a lower rate to entice you in.

My experience is that if you are booking within 2 weeks of actually arriving in CC, you are going to pay through the nose.  I travel to Philly a lot (for work) and have learned the hard way that you need to plan at least 2 weeks in advance to get a good hotel and a reasonable price. Specially during the summer.

Philly can be pretty 'date sensitive' with pricing but even during the convention I didn't pay that much @ the Marriott @ Market East.
The suggestion of checking the hotel chains websites is a good one - they often beat the 'bundlers'.
I suggest you also consider KOP or Plymouth Meeting - I have seen several traveling ladies in those locations and all seemed satisfied with their bookings.
