I notice many young escorts are studying arts,  art history,  psychology,  or some other useless and unemployable degree.  If your plan is to transition out into the real world, do you really think you can compete in this day and age with a degree in zero demand? I'm not trying to belittle those field of studies but the truth is that your career path is severely limited. Typically, you waste even more time getting a masters or PhD and need to become an expert in that field just to get a shitty paying job.

Maybe that's why some still hook well into their 60s, because finding Prince Charming who sweeps you off your feet may or may not work out. Just saying.  Why not fund your way into getting a more employable degree for the same amount of work involved

or rather why do you act like you care what our future career plans are?

It's rather obvious that the only objective of your post was to belittle *hores for their poor life choices, whether those choices be professional, academic or personal.

What do you expect from a neg? http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=neg

This topic transcends escorts, ant business could close over night, rendering on unemployed.

Can you please pass the Brussel sprouts.

Why do you care? It's not up to you to support any of the women you describe, so what business is it of yours if their degree is in underwater basket weaving? Whatever their degree is in is what interests them, and until you have to support one of them, it just simply isn't any of your business. If they make 10 K a year doing something they love, and have to work at this to make a living but they are happy, then so what?

but one provider said her daughter was selling THC edibles post graduation.

money is money, and I assume college teaches you more than what you study. From a financial perspective it does not make sense.

Specializing in arts or art history?
and Physiologists make a good living as well...

but how probable is that?

Dear Mercedes:
Although there are several women who used to ply their trade in this professional discipline before they went into higher education, how would you preface your curriculum vitae so that their wouldn't be a hint of suspicion during the course of the vetting process? That is the underlying question that those who would be in a career transition would tend to ask when contemplating such a move.

in overall college enrollment and in nearly all fields of study.

Guess we could ask why so many men just aren't going to college, or why they, too, might choose to study music, liberal arts, political science, international relations or those other "shitty" fields.

Of course, on the basis of my own experiences, I'd argue that the best way to avoid shitty working conditions and shitty pay is to start your own business

No? Are you sure?

While you didn't list my particular fields (I fall into the liberal arts category), a lot of people would consider my degrees just as "useless" as art, etc. But you're forgetting one major element that motivates many of us to follow particular paths: passion. I can only speak for myself, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who actually thrives on learning and is more concerned with being as thoroughly educated on particular issues as I can be as opposed to focusing on simply getting that piece of paper. If we all decided to just abandon our passions in pursuit of something that'll make us more appealing to the job market, there would be a severe cultural stagnation (not to mention a shit ton of very unhappy people). Call me idealistic, but I'm going to do what I feel is my calling in life, regardless of how "employable" or not it's going to make me. Aside from that, the pursuit of my particular fields of study have also opened up many doors for me in terms of university-sponsored leadership positions as well as experience "in the field" (so to speak). From my personal experience, anyway.

Here's the thing: you're assuming that those of us pursuing fields of study that don't have the same workforce potential as others are ignorant to the fact that the job market sucks right now, and/or that we haven't taken measures necessary to give us a competitive edge amongst other applicants. I assure you, that's not the case.

I've liked you ever since you first came on the scene and it just keeps getting better when I see these little glimpses of "who" you are.

Tobi speaks many truths here. I know many people who are very wealthy, and very unhappy. I play golf with one, and I secretly pitty him everytime I play golf with him.

Do whatever makes you happy, you have a finite time on this earth, live while you're here.

Money won't buy you love, although it will buy you a great blow job. And you gotta love that

Your post gives me the impression I can do what ever I want. With out having to worry about who gets hurt in the process. Now I'm confused?

So why haven't you seen her!? Seems like a gem for sure.

Cinci is a location I don't travel to for business, but when I go on my Bourbon tour I will fly in and out of Cinci, just to see this gem of a woman. She has many awesome photos, but the one that turns me on the most is the photo of her eye. I am so totally an eye guy. Of course it doesn't hurt that she has great legs. Yummy

It's just the one eye though. My other one is a cyborg eye.

Perhaps the OP views college as business investment? That's not to say you don't, just that he want's a greater return on his investment "financially"... and I actually like art.

... and you never know how valuable a LA degree could be down the road.

Escorting pays the bills.  Isn't that why most girls are here

For me ,with little experience, launching a career in Finance is a tough call.

And I am glad that we are able to help some ladies achieve their goals and their dreams. It is important to plan, save, educate yourself and understand that beauty, youth and popularity in this industry are somewhat short lived.

You have to have a plan B in life, specially because this occupation gives you a good amount of free time to study and pursue your interests and why not, even start your own venture.
Some degrees are more popular than others but even with those you can find a job should you decide to do so even as a teacher.  Education never hurts and it is a great way to grow as a person intellectually, it is an investment regardless of the degree obtained.

Maybe she can study to become a CPA?  That sounds like a good career track.

She too can become a board asshole and bully everyone on TER all day. ;)

Firstly I don't believe time spent in college should be concentrated on what profession the student may, or may not go into when they graduate, it's the difference between an education and training, and this applies to everyone, not just those who work as escorts.

Secondly I have often thought over the years that I would have been much happier if I had studied some of the 'useless' subjects in the arts rather than what I did, civil engineering, I was glibly told by an arts graduate once that he received an education while I learned a trade, and though he was just being a pain in the ass I do suspect that filling my head with knowledge for the pure love of a subject may have made me a happier man than I am, so I would certainly never question someone's passion for learning, no matter what the subject.

And finally, and its more a personal preference here, I love meeting ladies who have a passion for something outside of their escorting lives, not saying I go digging for personal information, but when a lady shares something of herself, her intelligence or her passions, it makes a meeting extra special. I never mind a lady telling me she is only doing this while she studies, or if she continues to work after college at least learning of her real-world interests is far more interesting than having nothing to talk about but the inside of the same four walls every day.

Fantasy is a huge part of why we do what we do as clients, we, whether knowingly or not, choose a lady we want to see based on out own set of criteria of what we find desirable, height, breast size, hair colour or any number of physical attributes, and character and intelligence often comes into this.

I don't care whether a lady studies international finance, underwater basket weaving, ancient Mayan folk music or the collected works of Garth Brooks, I find intelligent women very attractive so if they share any of their passion with me when we meet I'm almost sure to have a good time and want to meet her again.

No matter what career path we think we're on things can go wrong or not work out how we wanted them to, why shouldn't they, or anyone, study something that makes them happy, there's a great big world out there, anything can happen

within 6 months was promoted to Media Relations and personal assistant to Dennis Hof and Madam Suzette with a paycheck.

I still am a working lady though these days I am mostly by appointments.  Benefitting from media exposure, I am able to book longer outdates and rarely am in lineup.

My point is that opportunities are all around us.

My degree is in Nursing but the job I work, I love and wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.  I am getting more and more media opportunities

Opportunities are NOT all around you as you might think. Why else do you think so many new girls have entered this business as the economy turns?  There are opportunities yes, but for every one of YOU there are many more who are coming into escorting. The flow is greater inward than outward, especially when the economy is bad.

Lets get real, your case is an exception. If you were making so much as someone's personal assistant, why are you still escorting? Because you like sucking a stranger's cock?  Do you think all these new girls would have gotten into escorting if they had a higher paying job else where?

Lets get real.

Was to suggest that escorts think long term and decide if they need to formulate an exit strategy from the business.

One has to think that market forces make the median age of retirement less than 66 (Social Security full benefits) for sex workers.  How to fill that gap with income is the question, or perhaps a better question is how much do I need to have saved if I want to retire at age __.  I know some escorts work at this business only to supplement their RL jobs which do not pay sufficiently well to support them in the manner they would like to live (separate discussion).  If their RL jobs start to pay well enough (how much is that), then what do they need to do to exit the business and feel safe from being outed as a sex worker later and perhaps jeopardizing their now-lucrative RL job?

Perhaps it is not a bad thing to suggest that anyone think about their career path in the long term, even mongers.
