Sequester increasing border wait

The 2013 sequester of federal funds starting Friday, March 1, 2013.  Over the weekend there were reports of very long lines returning to the U.S.  (Four hours on Sunday.)

Most of the cuts haven't even started yet, but the line is long.  It's also hard to see why an approximately 10% cut should more than double the wait in line.

IMO Janet Napolitano, head of Homeland Security, is doing all she can to make Obama's pain prophecy come true.

I've used this site many times, but find it very inaccurate.

It's supposed to  be updated every hour, but often isn't.  Worse, it typically under estimates the wait time by 25% to 50%.

Telnor provides a traffic information hotline from 6am to 10pm that is updated every 15 minutes.  It gives the actual number of cars in line at both San Ysidro plus the number of pedestrians at both ports of entry.

I allow about 1 minute per car, less for the Otay Ready Lane that opens into 2-5 gates.  The information is in Spanish.  The number is (011 52) 664-700-7000.
