Best Places in South America

Costa Rica is nice, but pricey.  Colombian girls are very hot.    Lima Peru has been getting good reviews.   I'd put Columbia top on my list.

I am toying with the idea of retiring in central or south america in a few years and wanted to check out a few places down there. I lived in San Diego for many years and fell in love with TJ. Does anyone have any suggestions for the best places to visit? I've heard Colombian girls are the most beautiful, but that country doesn't have the most stellar reputation for safety. I've heard great things about Panama and Ecuador, but only from the perspective of retiring cheaply, not from the monger perspective. Of course, any insight into retirement in Mexico is welcome. Thanks in advance for your advice!

Thanks Burt for the tip on Lima. I'll have to check it out. I have heard good things about Medellin. There is a growing expat community there and it is reportedly much safer than its violent past would suggest. And of course the Colombianas are famous all over the world for their beauty.
