As other posted said, even with a conservative investment portfolio, one could live comfortably off the income with minimal principle reduction.  It's my goal to get there.

So what's your "fvck you" number?

I suppose we should start with what a "fvck number" really is.

It's the dollar amount that, once you've obtained it, would allow you to feel comfortable telling the world,  "fvck you".

No more deadlines, no more ex-wives, no more obligations.

And those that remained, you could easily right a check and they would fade away.

Most of us have that number stored someplace in our minds.

For some of us it's a $1,000,000.  For some of us is $100,000,000.

I'm curious, what's yours?

Oh, and one other thing, what would you do, once you've actually told the world to go to hell?

$10 million. Invested conservatively it would provide sufficient yearly income to support a comfortable life with enough left for shits and giggles.

For me, its more like 2 million.  I've done the math with my Financial Advisor, and between Soc. Sec., income from the investments and principal draw down, that's enough to last me way past my personal expiration date.  It basically replaces 85% of current income.  House and beach house are already paid, so travel will be the major outlays.

Way too much info about my personal financial thinking, but hey, its anonymous, right?

This is the people and deadlines that you WANT to say "eff you" too?
