When the pics are not accurate the Hobbyist has to work extra hard to not show their disappointment. The Provider could be the sweetest and sexiest thing walking but when you are paying for one thing and something totally different shows up it makes the session tense.....
I am sorry there are a lot of reviewers out here that are just happy to be getting their dick sucked and could care less who is doing the sucking and their little head writes the review. There are many providers that I wouldn't have sex with if they paid me....and I don't give a fuck what the reviews say.....There are some providers who are obsessive about updating their pictures orofessionally every few months. While I think that is a good thing. There are thousands of pictures of beautiful women.
I think great reviews and active board commentary seperate the
really great providers from the pack.
I don't care if the pics are their own or professionally done.

I agree with most of what you said and there are many quality levels of pics.
in the case i mentiobed the provider was doing a professional level portfolio every few months
the qualty was excellent and most recent was about 60-90 days
We were casually discussing her getting new pic at the end of a session
knowing she had an extensive and high quality portfolio i said new pictures were probably not going to be as effective as a consistent campaign on the board
The little head always wins 
Both are essential to my decision making process. I have learned that you can be fooled by pics and that reviewers on this board can over-rate a provider en mass so you need the combo.
As to board presence, the fact that she posts will bring her to my attention but if the pics and reviews aren't there I will view as a good egg but won't make the call.
And Chris is right. That initial let down when you have miscalculated is hard to overcome. I have stories but will not clutter the thread.
Some gals are shy and great providers. Some are all over the boards and are train wrecks.

business may be off so the default is i have to update pics

The default when business drops off is i need better pics
imho she looks better than her pics
To keep this simple my advice was get active on the boards to drive business to your website photos
many providers look great. In front of the camera and perform great behind closed doors but very shy and introverted when it comes to self promotion
If the provider is poor to mediocre
and she actively posts and piles up bad reviews
She will put herself out of business
