Open air lots are the way to go...

When I hobby downtown I use google maps to figure out the closest surface lots to my destination.  Then I straight there.  Makes hobbying in the city a whole lot easier, and prevents the driving around looking for a spot thing.  It's a bit more expensive then getting on street parking but a million times less stressful.

Had a fun weekend with a couple ladies, but driving around and trying to find parking?!?  Holy smokes!  A hotel valet was worth every penny, same for an arranged lot.  I was staying too far out to make a taxi viable, especially since I already had a rental car anyway.  Who the hell carries a roll of quarters to feed meters nowadays?

And GPS is a godsend trying to navigate around there.  On the way FROM the date it's not so bad, but on the way TO the date it's not like I'm in the most focused mental condition...
For the record, some of the bicyclists need to have their handlebars revoked so they have to walk.

i honestly just take a train to city and walk. I work in the city so i know my way around pretty good down there so i think public transportation is way more convenient and cheaper lol

I always use this site when I need to park in the city:

http://philadelphia.bestparking.com/

You can put in your arrival and departure times, then get prices for all lots in the area you are going to visit.  Click on a lot and it tells you if it is indoor, outdoor, valet, self park, hours of operation, etc.

Be brave!  Come play in Philly

I always just find the closest parking to where I need to be, and avoid letting a few dollars in parking interfere with my day/evening. Even for outcall, I'll usually just arrange for valet for both myself and my date... who needs extra stress and delays?

I guess at this point I know the best parking (IMO) for each area of the city and don't think about it much anymore. :)
