Ben Smith of Politico.com reports that Barack Obama has agreed to sit down with Bill O'Reilly on Fox News on Thursday evening -- the same night John McCain delivers his acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention.

The two events won't go head-to-head, of course. But Obama's appearance on "The O'Reilly Factor" will give him a chance to make his case to an audience that presumably will also watch McCain en masse. It's hard to imagine many of O'Reilly's viewers will be swayed by Obama, but his campaign obviously figures it's worth the effort to try to pick up a few strays.

Fox is wrong to let Obama go on the same nite as MAC way to go BILL O

I don't see the conflict..

anymore than I would say CNN or MSNBC are fair or balanced. That aside, I see no reason for FOX not to air Obama on the same night as MCCain either.

Why should we be scared of anything Obama has to say? Obama is the one taking the risk.I have to admit I'm pleased and surprised he has the balls. McCain has been on the Daily show over a dozen times  in front of a very left wing crowd and has done just fine. Let's see how Obama fares on Fox. I am all for it.

Talk about low class. On the night that Obama delivered his acceptance speech, McCain very obviously cleared the stage, and even went to elaborate lengths to ensure that his pick for VP did not leak that night. The only appearance on McCain's part was his ad actually congratualting Obama for his historic achievment. McCain showed class and respect.

Now here comes Obama trying to hog the stage ahead of McCain's own speech. Apparently returning the respect shown to him is something Obama is simply incapable of.

I will admit though, that politically, it was a very savvy move for Obama. It is just more proof though that Obama is the ultimate politician, absolutely no different from the Chicago thuggery from which his political career was born. The student learned his craft well.

I am not surprised Obama is not doing it since he has zero character
It gives Americans a chance to see the big difference between Obama who is not worthy to be President and is a low class man compared to MAC a man of great character.
I had to use your line abbout Chicgo thuggery in another forum .Hope you don't mind :)

Wahoo!! My new career in political punditry is off to a good start! I just got quoted for the first time :)

Which Bill O'Reilly will show up, and how many of the questions will be scripted.
I really believe that Bill can show how much of an empty suit Obama really is.
Gloves off, it's O'Reilly by KO.
Gloves on... we will see.
