Sorry about the lack of clarity...I'm specifically asking how does one become an actor or model in the bdsm film/photography scene?

I'm sure its been asked plenty of times and of course by members of the male gender which I am... But seriously..I see all of these new fetish sites popping up and always wonder..how do these models break into the scene?!?

We went to munches, parties and events. I met people through classes initially. They're a great places to develop skills and make friends in a low pressure, relatively non-sexual environment. Really, there's not much 'breaking into the scene' to be done if you're an attractive woman. You'll be welcomed with open arms, to say the least.

If you're asking about the professional scene; wondering if these new girls have any background in BDSM at all- some don't. Plenty of fetish workers aren't skilled... but a lot of us are, and it's usually pretty clear through reputation, blog posts, copy, etc. who is who!

I concur with that. I've learned first by attending workshops, munches, and play events, then became mentored by two experienced male slaves. I personally didn't learn much from dominatrix's although I hang out in the same crowd. I chose not to approach BDSM with the nasty domme attitude. I learned a lot from slaves who were without owners at various times. That is when they are accessible.

Just about everyone I seriously dated has been kinky, and through them I have gone to Munches, Play Parties, etc...

Thanks for the responses so far.... appreciate it!  So basically from what you're all saying, breaking into the model/film fetish scene is strictly or mostly through connections of people that are heavily into the scene?

You keep mentioning models and film. Do you want to become a fetish photographer?

There are only a few good ones out there, and a whole hell of a lot more that have no talent and are just in it to get laid. Most models know this, and won't see someone with a lackluster (or nonexistent) portfolio, moreso if he has no reputation and doesn't know anyone they know to vouch for him.

lots of bdsm models and actors are just porn actors that do other things on the side.  Very few "models and actors" are run-of-the-mill kinky people.  Insex, when it was functioning (RIP) mainly used women that weren't actors, but that were truly kink-oriented individuals.  Kink.com used to as well, but this is no longer the case.
