Well put, K!
I would be interested in the research OldpoppaC referenced in his initial posting. Who are the shills (aka, pitchman or promoters) he sees? We could all benefit from his extensive research and maybe, if presented, we could evaluate/critique his research. Are the shills agencies or ghost writers for indy ads? What patterns does he see? Could be interesting and revealing to all.

I suspect this complaint more about nostalgia than any increase of falsehoods in the P4P arena. Sure, our current networked lives give more folks a means of participating and you'll get more of everything (the good stuff and the crap.) The nostalgic  'bordello' scene had it's charm and, maybe, convenience (for hobbyist and maybe LE.) I prefer directly supporting/connecting with the 'indies', as it's another semblance of the GFE fantasy for me. I do think things have moved on and the bordello offering is less the norm.

I know I can't be the only person that has thought about this but since "the crash" .

I have done a fair amount of research and I have come up with my own theory that every post I have read here and especially on the other board ( the one that charges providers to advertise) is so full of propaganda by small group of shill posters, who use multiple handles and strategically bang the drum for a certain niche of providers.

I have been hobbying for over 30 years on and off and with the advent of the computer age it has become more evident.
Back in the day there were several fine establishments, some members only( like Paige's) as well as walk in places like Gentleman's retreat and Exec Retreat, Bella's , 12th and Vine sts only to name a few.

But maybe it might just be the " changing of the guard " which I highly doubt, kinda like how MTV changed the world to the point a video DJ could tell watchers that eating a shit sandwich is cool,so people would eat them?

I am trying to tread lightly and use subtle terms as not to labeled, but I am fairly certain I am not the only hobbyist that feels this way.

Please share your feelings and post..Thanks

I follow the boards and ads and noticed that there's usually a core group of ladies that post, plus the travelers.  Once in a while someone new and local posts for a while, but soon disappears.  I believe when a lady is attractive, good personality and at a decent price point they soon develop enough followers that they don't need to post anymore.  This is true of about half the ladies in my rotation.

So my theory is that a lot of the better providers are actually "invisible", and that it is the ideal for a provider to have pared down her list of guys she actually likes and sees on a regular basis.  I think its a different world than the days of Bella Femina and Steam.  Your choices and strategies have to be different. Though I did point out to someone recently that Joy's is still around.

Mostly I post in Vegas, but I try to keep up in my home town as well.

Things have changed since 12th and Vine days.  Back then there was no kissing and no BBBJ.  I was shocked when I got back in the hobby and found BBBJ were so common they "adjusted" scores on whether they were on the menu.

Regarding the Shills and the boards…

I love this "improvement".  It's like a little community, a club. In addition to the "one on one" we have a social connection as well.  I like the girls that post on boards.  I think it adds to the experience.  I wish more would participate.

Originally when I got back I did all "shopping" with searches or the ad boards (the other ones).  But now I find most of my providers on the boards, ar least in Vegas.  The Philly board is really not active enough to generate that type of atmosphere.

Hey, thanks for the research and theory, but sometimes you miss the boat (or wished you had; ask Ishmael) and sometimes the forest still remains obscured by the trees.

You may be treading lightly but you are a bit too obscure for me. What "crash" are you talking about? The Crash of '29, the Crash of '08 or the some other cataclysmic event?  And how does that relate to the state of P4P?

But most importantly, who belongs to this "certain niche of providers?"  I asked this because participation here is voluntary, so those who do not wish to participate will not draw as much attention and digital ink as those who do.

But I am curious about which segments of the escort population are under-served by the "shills?" The BP girls?  WOC? BBW's?  TS providers? Emo/Suicide girls?  Or am I missing your subtle point?  From my point of view, I know what kinds of women/providers attract me and, as my budget allows, I choose from that group.  Are you telling me that makes me a shill for that niche if I review or comment about its members?  What happened to a free market and choice?  (Okay, I'm being hyperbolic, I know).

I hope you respond because it would be a shame to throw down this gauntlet of complaint without continuing the debate, but in more direct terms.
