I don't know what is meant by dental mills. I was in the dentist chair for 7 hours 1st day. 3 hours second day. When the crowns were done they took impressions of my teeth and the lower partial was completed and installed the next day. It would take months and thousands of more dollars to get the same thing in the US. One dentist did all the work and I was very pleased and recommend Sams Dental.
thanks Robert

Just got back from Sams Dental.. Had 10 Crowns .. they were great
Glad you had a good experience.  I haven't used this facility (and wouldn't) because my experiences with dental mills have not been good.

Hello all, it's been about two years since my last trip to TJ but was thinking about making one to get some dental work done.  I need a root canal and crown and was looking at Sam Dental in TJ online.  Any experiences with using a dentist in TJ?  Thanks

Make sure you have personal references too!

I've been going to dentists in Tijuana for years.  As have friends of mine.  Tijuana has some great dentists.

If you have actually gotten work done over there, could you please be so kind to provide me with a referral of the dentist you saw?  I need some work done bad and I dont have insurance. This will be  out of pocket.

Thanks a bunch

He's Dr. Raul Mendiola R.  His office is in Plaza Fiesta (aka Plaza Zapado) across from Plaza Rio.  His office is upstairs in the building between the D’Voladas coffee shop and the lingerie boutique.   Plaza Fiesta is kiddy-corner from the Omni Max theater dome of the Cultural Center.   On the corners of the intersection are McDonalds, the Cultural Center, Plaza Rio shopping center, and Plaza Fiesta (aka Plaza Zapado).

He is an Oral Surgeon, but also does general dentistry. (Trained at Univ. of GDL--which is equivalent to most US medical schools, or so I've been told by a US physician.) He speaks excellent English.

Dr. Raul Mendiola R.
Plaza Fiesta - Paseo de los Heroes #9415 - 5B

I don't know what is meant by dental mills.
A dental mill is a place where the dentist works for the clinic or for another dentist in contrast to being in private practice for himself.

Dental mills put a lot of pressure on their dentists to generate income.  I went to a dental mill where the dentist told me I needed a root canal and a crown.  I got a second opinion from a dentist in private practice who said I only needed a filling.  Friends of mine have had similar experiences with dental mills, which is why I will never again go to a dental mill.  And why I get second opinions before doing things like root canals and crowns.  (In my experience, and that of my friends, dentists in private practice are more honest.)

Ten crowns is a lot of crowns--and a lot of money for the dental mill.  Did you get a second opinion?  Are you sure you really needed ten crowns?
