While reading my monthly VA newsletter, I came across this interesting tidbit. On 8 July, 2008, a Congressional oversight committee issued a report that says in part: "Since 2000, Medicare has paid $92,000,000 to approximately 500,000 claims for medical equipment, e.g., wheel chairs, crutches, canes, etc. These particular fraudulent claims were paid to doctors that were deceased. (2,895 of them still had active Medicare ID numbers, however, more than half of them had been dead for over 5 years). Incredible, yet Obama wants to nationalize health care, to be run by the same bureaucracy. I'd be very interested in knowing the total amount paid by Medicare for all fraud claims.
