Some of my favorite hot newer places to eat in Philly:  Le Virtu, Bibou, Vernick, Sbraga (Kevin Sbraga is a philly chef that won top chef a few seasons back), Barbuzzo and Serpico....

It's an OTC dinner so I'm really excited.  Are there good restaurants you recommend that has a water view?

Check out R2L or Nineteen. Or maybe the Water Works Restaurant, which has a great view looking up the river at Boathouse Row. Not sure there's anything in old city that has a great view.

Anyone else?

Two of my Favs: THE previously suggested WATERWORKS IS ELEGANT WITH A GREAT VIEW AND EXCELLENT FOOD.  THE SALOON IS A PHILLY CLASSIC LOVELY Italian FOOD AND GREAT SERVICE in South Philly.
Also excellent is the restaurant at the Four Seasons Hotel.  Food and ambiance are wonderful.

And not that the view is great but I always really enjoyed eating at Parc Place in the spring/summer time. The name of the area escapes me at the moment.but it's a bunch of great places to eat outside.

I've on occasion have taken a lady or two to the Swann Room , but I would highly suggest you use discretion there..

Forget the water view.  There are some -which have been mentioned but there are so many great places in Philly.  Here are 3 - Someone mentioned the Four Seasons - great food and truly elegant;  Lacroix in the Rittenhouse Hotel - overlooking the square - magnificent; Vetri at 13th and Spruce (but it is unlikely you can get in this late - but might be worth a try - spectacular).  Enjoy!!!

I haven't been there in at least a year but every meal I have had there has been nothing short of exceptional and the ambience is elegant.

I have always maintained that food is the ice breaker for conversation....if you can't find anything to talk about, you can ALWAYS talk about food!  Maybe this is how we can inspire this board to come to life!

Seems like the only time the board comes to life is when someone asks for a restaurant rec!!  So at a minimum we know folks in Philly love their food :)

Thank you for that recommendation!  Always looking for another great place and Philadelphia never comes up short!
