He should be at the top.

I am a huge Laker fan but I must admit that I only like Kobe between the lines. He is one exciting MF too watch.

PJ finally but Kobe in the same league as MJ with the game on the line. Add in Jerry West, Larry Bird and Magic and there's my top 5. These guys just seem to excel where others constrict. Some think these guys are lucky but I just attribute it to refusing to lose.

Anyway, the question was between MJ and Kobe, and it was Phil Jackson's opinion.  I say he knows something about winning.

Gang,
Russell is the greatest winner in the history of pro sports with 11 world Championships out of 13 seasons played and won 2 NCAA championships as well at USF-However, I agree with RT that I thought the criteria was taking the final shot with the game on the line-I doubt that Russell, whose forte was D and rebounding, was even often called on-given the Celtic talent pool- to take the final shot as he was not particularly awesome offensively. Give me MJ any day but it's close between he and Kobe. I note Phil took Kobe, but I believe we should  wait until Phil, a master politician as well, is NOT Kobe's coach and see what he says. smile  Kobe's recent game winner was incredible and one of the best ever-

Not a big Basketball fan, but don't forget Kareem, Wilt Chamberlin, Oscar Robertson (big O), just to name a few more of the great ones.
