Re: Race Bait

It used to be that racists called people of another race various names that were intended as slurs. Today racists accuse other people of being racists. Then they will invariably list the slurs and accuse the other guy of wanting to say them, meanwhile they get a real thrill themselves by saying them. There is an old saying, "Scratch a liberal, find a racist." I don't think Obama is a racist, but he understands that his white disciples are and he's providing them with THE big kick in their lives, feeling superior to others. The nerdy dinks get to feel cool too, because they're chillin' with a black guy, hoping for a fist bump. (They don't want an NBA style chest bump, because they worry their eyeglasses will fall off.)The reason people become liberal is because they feel superior to everyone else, usually because they were "above average" in school. Most people who do well in school, usually do poorly in the world, and it pisses them off, so they become angry liberals, looking to "restore the balance."

So, why did Obama recently warn us that the Republicans will use his race against him?

Actually, Obama was using a simple political persuasion technique.

This manipulation is called “inoculation” by social scientists.

A negative accusation is made, and the intended prey (in this case the RNC) is blamed as if it had already engaged in the substance of the charge even though no such thing has actually occurred. This way, should any race-based RNC attacks take place in the future, Obama can say “I told you so.” But there is a much bigger fish just underneath the surface. Actually, the intended message was, “Republicans are racists.”

The RNC and any legitimate McCain surrogates are unlikely to ever use a race card, not because they will play nice but because they don’t have to. They have lots of other material to work with. It is the Obama campaign itself that is obsessed with race and has used it from the very beginning (even pulled it against their very own Bill Clinton).

Yup, that is it exactly.

The substance of Obama's remark fundamentally assumes that Republicans must be racist - conveniently overlooking the significant number of minorities Bush has appointed to various positions, more than any other President.

Furthermore, when no racist attacks occur, Obama can claim that he put a stop to it by telling people it would happen, thus "shaming" republicans into behaving themselves.

Osama believes that he can shame the average honkey into voting for him as the only means of providing proof that he is not a racist. Hussein should be working as a carnival huckster.

Nice theory, but you're a bit behind the curve. The Republicans have already started the race baiting on Senator Obama.

any critiscism of BO is race baiting? If not, why is saying the truth: he sat in a church listening a virulent, extremist anti-American pastor for 20 yrs, why is that race baiting? He hung out with Pfleger, and is pals with Rezco and Ayers. Is that race baiting?

No executive experience? No record of achievment other than law school? He held statewide office for one year before running for President? He is wrong on foreign policy, he doesn't understand capital gains taxes, he wants to increase taxes on certain people because of fairness? Is it all race baiting? He thinks our economic system runs on greed? He thinks we should be hot in summer, cold in winter, drive less, because we use too much energy, according to him. Race baiting?

Or is all this just a chickenshit way to squelch debate and to stop anyone from pointing out he's an extremist and the worst candidate the Dims ever put up.

that believes or at least espouses the opinion that if you disagree with a black man it must be because of his race, which by extension makes you a racist.

The same philosophy that created laws such as "hate crimes", which insinuates that commiting a crime against someone of another race or sexual orientation is somehow worse than commiting the same crime against someone of your own race or orientation.

Or as you said, just a chickenshit way to try and squelch debate and defend the indefensible.
